Auto Wiper/Intermittent Wipe

Hi

Silly question - I have auto wipers on my 57 plate TDV8 and remember when I collected the car the sales guy said all you need to do is leave the rotary part of the wiper stalk turned clockwise all the way and click up once - no problem, in this configuration the wipers come on at various speeds and intermittent based on how much rain/spray is on the screen

However, he also said if I wanted intermittent wipe (i.e. like any other car) then whilst in the same stalk position as before (i.e. one click up) simply turn the rotary part of the stalk anti clockwise until you reach the desired intermittent wipe - I've tried this and the intermittent wipe does not work unless its raining which make me think its not working correctly

Can I not just set the intermittent wipe and it work outside of the auto wiper sensor or does it have to be raining?

Thanks for your thoughts - just not sure if its a faulty stalk. Rolling Eyes Wife's Car: BLACK RRS TDV8 HSE with all the bits Smile

Sounds crazy i know......

But have you tried returning the stalk to original position (one click back down), then rotate to one of the intermittent speed positions and then return stalk to one click up Question

Once stalk back up adjust speed accordingly. Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

Yup - tried that and still the same.

Also does it in the FL2 Courtesy car that I have (as mine is in for some warranty work again!) so must be the way it works - seems odd though to operate like that as sometimes you don't want to wait for the auto wipers, you just want a regular wipe! Wife's Car: BLACK RRS TDV8 HSE with all the bits Smile

I always thought that twist bit just adjusted the sensitivity of the auto-wipe?

awd - me too.

not sure it works perfectly all the time tho'. Sometimes it goes into overdrive with very little rain on the w/screen and I have to switch to normal mode to stop the wipers coming off.

Not a fault as such, just a car with character.... Wink
