Noisy wipers aaaahhhhgggggg !!!

Well, ever since I have owned this fantastic car there is one thing that has got on my nerves - the wipers make a noise.

Not the motor. But the wipers as they come across the screen.....

They just seem to flip back and forth with lots of noise, especially the drivers side flapping at the end of its run.....

Replaced with new twice.

Rainex on the screen

No effect

Just ordered some Valeo Silencios following a search on this forum but would be grateful for members thoughts on what their wipers are like. My Merc was silent and graceful. My Maserati is the same. The RRS is just clunky.

HELP !! Please

I had original land rover blades on mine, nice and quiet Thumbs Up

If they are making noise whilst coming across the screen and at the point of return have you checked that the arms are not damaged, ie they are slightly bent and putting too much force onto the blades?

Mine do exactly the same, it's driving me crazy. I also ordered some valeo's today after some research on here, they arrive tomorrow so I'll see how I get on with them.

Think it's too much of a coincidence to be individual faults though!! Question

Clean the blades with vinegar!

An old farmer who has had hundreds of Land Rovers told me.

Did it. Not had a problem since. SDV6 HSE Sport2 - Santorini Black, Ebony Interior, Pano Roof, Things I haven't found yet!

Anyone tried aero wipers? They sit flat against the screen rather than relying on a single blade which has to flex back and forth at the end of each stroke. RRS 3.0D HSE 11MY - Fuji White, a few extras.

It's not the wipers. It's the wiper arms you need to bend the wiper arm. Thumbs Up

Mine arecsilent and are original wiper blades. Can you not just turn the volume up on the stereo. This seems to fix a multitude of lr sins. Smile

Same complaint happened on mine.

Yep vinegar or lemon juice is the stuff; unless the blades are knackered. Don't use any spirit based cleaner.

It is not nnecessarily related to how old they are and you won't see it, but the blade's edges get very slightly rounded (especially if you've used them at some time with ice and frost on the screen or much of a layer of dust) then rather than 'wipe' and squeege the glass they'll will jump and shrudder especially if there's a road film after a dry spell of weather or there's traces of polish residue.

Can I just add that I normally thoroughly clean my windscreen with Megs Glass cleaner and I've always cleaned my wipers to make sure that all debris and grime was removed but I still got the banging sound as the drivers wiper blade reached it's full swing. Not every time but i'd say 75% of the time.

Not sure what the actual issue was but I fitted new Valeo's yesterday and now it's completely silent. I'm more than happy Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

As someone else said on here, 'best £26 spent on my RRS'.

Good to hear feedback - I am waiting for the Valeos as I've cleaned, vionegar, lemon, rainex, bent the arms, bent them back etc etc all to no avail

At the end of the stroke they just flap noisily!

Valeos on order - watch this space - hope they work like yours Jock !
