Gilford the marks are not hologramming this only comes when using a rotary polisher. What you have is too much product and not spread eavenly enough the panel. what you need to do is apply lees and work it is. SRP is a very good product and one we use quite frequently in out valets as it does mask up quite a bit. its also a lot easier to use than black hole or black light. another cracking product is Zaino Z5 really great product and make by one of the best brands out there.

I agree mines got a 5 stage Zaino on it,must less hassle than any wax to top up,use Z6 and then Z8 after every wash couldn't be simpler to apply just use a really soft MF wipe on wipe off all done in about 15 minutes for the whole car and no white polish residues on the plastics to worry about. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

In terms of wax, I would go Dodo Supernatural wax, leave to set and then some red mist layered on top and buffed up.

No doubting Supernatural, used it on my RRS when I had it. Although I have to say Red Mist is a tough detailer to work on/off.

As we all know, there are many many products out there, and we all don't have the luxury of trying them all...it would never be possible. Just use what works for you best and perhaps try out one or two people's standard recommendations.

Basics.

Never use a leather to dry your car
Good polish...SRP or Black Hole (if a black car!)

Check your cloths. Keep separate ones for wheels and windows and separate ones for the bodywork.
Waxes are a good sealant, but the shine etc will come from the polish and not the wax. A wax can give a wet look sometimes. A very good, well priced wax, which isn't Turtle Wax is Collinite 476 S. It's about £20 for a large pot, and is a great way to start off.

Zaino make great products, so if you're looking for a big step up without going crazy on price, like Swissvax etc, then I don't think you can do better.

Hey Guys,

My first post Woop!

I have just bought my RRS today and loving it, its Java Black and a 2007 model. I will be starting the polishing process next week and think it may be beneficial to document it with some photos and videos for you guys.

As I have a commercial interest in one of the brands mentioned above. Can anyone point me in the direction of the Admin as I do not want to break any rules before I start!! Especially as its my first post!

Im off to the newbies centre next to do my newbies post Smile

Just a tip, how about you do a workshop for say 6 people at a time and teach people how to use polishers. Both DA and Rotary.....

A couple of us have already been to Magic in Berkshire....

Hey Nick,

That sounds like a plan to me, I was only talking to another RRS member today about doing a mini meet in Hook.

Ah you have been over to see Robbie, he is one of my approved detailers Wink

DO NOT USE AUTOGLYM SUPER RESIN POLISH

I used this for the first time the other week and applied it by hand, it has left some horrible marks on the black paintwork which the pro's call "hologramming".

I'm now left with the chore of getting rid of said marks Censored

Stick with Megs products, you cant go wrong!
