On further inspection ( with my Dad) Weve discovered that the imperfection has been caused by a slipping tool as there is a scratch line leading to it ! Thats nothing ... the bumper is three different colours ! They have obviously painted the ends and decided that the middle doesnt need painting. They havent even filled the scratches properly as you can feel the repair.... Ive run my hand over the repair and it feels like sandpaper. I am LIVID

I cant believe it ! Do they think that everyone doesnt give a s Censored t about things... just bodge it to a sub standard every day run of the mill standard. Well not for me. Im absolutley raging. If a person who obviously doesnt take car of their car as much as I do it probably wouldnt be an issue for them.

Ive composed an email stating the issues and that Id like it testing with a micrometer for the colour... and not only that I want answers and a statement of works issuing to me. Not to mention the car booking in again to be rectified.

Phew Sorry for the rant Sad Smile

What you need to insist they do is take the bumper off and spray it, not leave it on the car......

Good girl stick to your guns. Happened to me bout 5 years ago. Had my front bumper on my disco ( I know I was on the dark side) damaged. And when they brought it back on the lorry I never iet them take it off cause I could see paint work was crap. Lorry driver did not like it nor the insurance company. Took another 2 weeks before I got my car back but was worth it. It's what we pay our insurance for! Give them hell !

Well if thats a LR approved bodyshop that has repaired that foxy let me know their name, just so that i know to avoid it should i ever need one Shocked That is shocking make sure you let your insurance company know of their substandard work, if you want to use my LR approved garage next time just let me know, you've seen the quality of my colour coding and they never cut corners, too many premier league footballers use them so not to spoil his reputation.

To be fair I micrometer may not be that much use, and if its on anything plastic, it wont work at all anyway. When I got into a dispute over my XF paintwork, I tested it with a paint guage and it was all over the place. Varied from 100 microns in places to over 250 in others. On the same panel you could get variances of 100 microns. Some of the most uneven thickness of paintwork Ive ever heard of.

If JLR paint the RRS with the same methods, then a paint guage will probably not offer much help. Sounds like they havent polished the paint properly after its cured. Which is probably what they will do to try and rectify the problem. In fairness it could be the issue too - an uneven surface on the paint could give the impression of differing colours. RRS 3.0D HSE 11MY - Fuji White, a few extras.

Chessers,
I had exactly the same with my RRS paint was double the thickness in some parts seems that for some reason JLR's paintshop operatives skills leave a lot to be desired. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

It's all a case of 1970's techniques on modern day cars, all they had to do was drop the bumper off the motor, fix the damage spray it and plonk it back on, the downside of it all is that she's really Censored off about it, and most people could've done better with Plastc Padding and a rattle can ! All you can do is keep yer toys in the pram cos sure as eggs is eggs some other hassle will be along soon. 08 2.7 RRS "S"

I am going to be very calm and offer to listen to how this wll be rectified...Its times like this I wish I had a man to do this for me. Its one of the many drawbacks to being single. I know that might sound pathetic, but seriously some garages and people think oh single girl doesnt have a clue... So any bodies that are free this week.?? Smile

I would get onto the insurance company to rectify it.

I too had the same problem and regretfully took it to the insurers choice of repairer. Awful job, worse than yours. It is hassle, but don't stand for it. My insurer was good and they asked me to take it to another repairer they used to inspect. They agreed it was awful and got the bad repairer to pay for it to be done again with these other people.

Call up the insurance, tell them the problem and hopefully they will get onto a senior manager at the place to get it sorted for you. Thumbs Up
