Ok, I've now bought a removable tow bar on eBay for £150, so now for the rack. Best option looks like the Altera, which slides out of the way of the boot for access. Bit more expensive than the Thule one, but does look top drawer. The electrics sounds like a fart on though, can't believe it isn't just plug in and go. |

The bike/car interface is a right pain in the backside, all those sticky out pedals & levers etc, the last time I did anything with bikes I just hooked the trailer on the back containing bikes, tents and almost anything volatile, all wraped up in a big blue tarp. I tried a rear mounted rack for a while and discovered that some one always wanted something that was only retrievable by opening the boot, divorce makes life so much easier ! |

If your going across the channel I believe Spain and Portugal require bikes to be on roof. |

Im think the opposite as I need a man with a bigger car than mine ! Or a trailer, the bikes will be easy then ! Today was again a disastrous effort of trying to get both bikes in the car with seats down and not dirtying the roof lining... Roll on winter when it will be sledges and skis not bloody bikes ![]() ![]() |

I have been looking at the set up with the electrics, is it right that you have to remove either the rear bumper or light cluster to fit them? Seems like a joke that a 4x4 costing the best part of £60k still needs the towing wiring adding to it.

To be honest, I can't be arsed with that nonsense, I've got a Lotus to take bits off and put back together, I didn't buy a RRS expecting the same.

I'm starting to realise that. It is a British motoring tradition isn't it. Anyway, literally 5 minutes ago the tow bar I bought on ebay was delivered .......... with the key snapped in the lock!

Seems too deep in. Do you need to do something to allow the key to realease anyway (i.e. key only comes out when the tow bar is attached)? |
