Sat Nav Update (Horror)

Hi All

Ok did the really daft thing and purchased the latest RRS satnav disk off Ebay and inserted the same into my reader. All going well for the first 20 mins of our 3hr journey when suddenly grey screen and DVD read data error.

Nothing except switching the car off fully and locking/unlocking would get the satnav back on track which is weird. Now question is..... when this type of error appears it is more likely a reader only problem or is it more likely to be a cheap disk off crapebay problem...... think i already know the answer but just wanted to check if anyone else has had similar issues and if so what they did to remedy.

Feel a right Numpty !!!!

Get what you pay for I'm afraid. ALWAYS buy it genuine, after all it's not that expensive in the big scheme of things, less that the cost of a decent tyre. 2017 Range Rover Sport Autobiography

The reader is quite sensitive to the quality of the disk.

When I made a backup copy of my disk and tried to use it, it was giving the read data error.
Made another copy and was working fine.

Try to copy the disk to a good quality DL DVD '08 RRS TDV8

I made a copy of my original for backup purposes, and it works fine in the car. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I do use decent Dual Layer disks though, and set the copy speed to 2x to ensure an accurate copy. I keep telling myself 'It's a toy'
But I've broken quite a lot of toys in my time.....
