France 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
GPS "not a DVD map inserted" message

hi everyone, to share my experience, hope this will help.

I have a 2005 HSE Range Rover Sport with a faulty GPS navigation.
after several research, clean/change the DVD disc, check connectors, clean the lens, it sounds like it comes from the optical laser unit of the DENSO GPS ECU DVD drive (which is a DVS-3011).
- a brand new ECU is very expensive at dealer (1000 euros)
- a used one is around 400 euros... without any idea of cyclelife ahead...
- the laser unit optical lens reference is "Sanyo SF-HD4 with white cap" and it can be found on ebay for 20euros...

it is tough to disassemble the dvd drive; i did, so I'm looking forward receiving the laser unit and check if this fix is the cheapest I found!!!

stay tuned...

Depends how good you are at that stuff.

Ive replaced components on TV's, Stereos etc - if you know what the fault is and half compentent with a soldering iron etc you should be good. Mike

Are you using the original disk or your back up? '08 RRS TDV8
I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil

actually tried both...
also tried other versions "from web" without success...
that is the reason why i was thinking it comes from hardware...
