High Mileage examples

Still missing my sport. I noticed today though that higher mileage examples are dropping into a budget I could afford to buy as a 'weekend' cruiser - I do a fair bit of mileage and I do miss the long distance cruise in it.

Question is though how reliable are they, just had my local dealer ring as they are taking in a 86k tdv6 hse and said they'd be looking for around £21k for it. Are they reliable at higher mileages or does the physical weight / size take its toll on the moving parts? Dealer is suggesting that a tdv6 should be good for an easy 200k miles is that right?

Cheers
SK

It's all about service and how it's been driven..not the mileage

Character on Disco3 has a 350k odd mile TDV6, but it's been serviced to the letter (more so in fact with oil changes at half service intervals) and has done a lot of motorway miles so running gear could be argued as less worked.

One of my contractors has a 2006 HSE RRS with 180k on it... never missed a beat..... RRS gone

Laughing Laughing

It seems £17k is the starting price these days Shocked Shocked , albeit with mega miles. It won't be long now before they hit the £13-14k buffer for those early 54 plates Confused L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

But are they any worse than say Audi/ VW - which Iv e had a few of and they are certainly riddled with faults you shouldnt expect. Although saying that my 15yr old Golf Cabrio still doesnt miss a beat.

THis car in question has full service history, I'm sure they said its a '57 plate.

A colleague of mine has a 2005 HSE with late 60's mileage which I think he would sell for £19999? Let me know if you want me to put a word in Wink

Re: High Mileage examples

Maybe, speaking from personal experience though i have owned four VW's and two Audis and never had a problem with any of them other than a blown fuse.
Now into my 5th month of RRS ownership and i've already had several problems, infact Ripon LR will be getting a call tomorrow to book the car in for few problems.
For such expensive cars LR should be ashamed of themselves Embarassed

My RRS was 4 years old with 67k miles, and was pretty much hassle free. 2 EGR valves and a slight hint of suspension knocking were only issues and I still miss it like he'll.....

And I have 50k to spend on a new car, and can I make my mind up? No way!

Looked at an E Class Cab today...not bad at all

It all depends on what you want out of your new vehicle, if i was looking to change i would definately take a look at this as a toy!

Ady no way....the RS3 may be a. Dream to drive, but you won't find more souless cars than Audis these days.

I went into Audi today, and even looked at a used R8, and the TT seats and drab interior put me off. To compare the E Class to the S5 Cab, which only has a V6 now and not the V8, it would drop more money quicker than the Merc.

I know Will Wonka loves his, and he has had more cars than he's had women...but....

I think M cars at BMW are better than RS cars....

Agree to the above regarding Audis, was thinking about a E class myself. Like them in a 2 door, hate the look as a 4 door..Mrs will go mad if i buy a 2 door. Very Happy

The E Cab is a lot of car for the money. The E 350 CGI Diesel has every bit of kit you could wish for, and comes in at 50k. I also really want to do the factory pick up from Stuttgart....but not decided for sure it's the car I want. I already have the Z as a convertible, so will see....
