I'd set fire to the pieces of.....

Embarassed that this can happen.... Why dont we just send them packing.. Exclamation
Im sure most of the hard working decent muslims would also agree.
And the fine is a joke....
The problem we have in the uk is not with other religions or creeds but
our own white spineless middle and upper management who bow and scrap to any complaint raised..
If its about a flag on a taxi in the world cup and all the other nonsense we read about....
The middle and upper management need to grow a back bone and MAN up.....
Im proud to be british/english but after doing a lot of work over sea's....Denmark
Has the best balance...and most still fly the danish flag in the garden and they are still feriously proud of there country..like old britain 50/60 years ago...
(oh and they still LOVE the british) must be one of the only countries left that does.
My 2p worth...rant over Thumbs Up V8 - HST Supercharger ..... The only way forward ! Wink

Look at this carefully guys. This judgement is madness - he burnt an object that he owned. Yes it's a symbol but it's only an object, this ruling will come back and further reduce our civil liberties in this country. Why? Because it means that we can not burn anything that we belong if if causes offence to anyone. As usual one man has got far too much publicity because of the courts - the case should have simply been dropped and then 99.9% of the population will never of heard of this man and the act would have simply been forgotten instead the whole thing just insites racial hatred. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

I understand what your saying...
But the symbol he burnt means as much to people who have lost loved ones as the koran would to others...
And what a big issue that caused only a month or two ago when someone was going to burn the koran Exclamation
And what about the shouting and other nonsense when people are trying to showing respect for fallen heros & loved ones NOT just in recent wars/conflicts.
The attitude you are showing only increases tension.. instead of showing we as a nation will not put up with THIS type of protest... free speach or not....its just not right.
Only this type of thing could go on in the uk....protest and call our forces personal scum and then happy to live off our hand outs..Bl00dy Joke.
I know its not a cut and dry case BUT something/someone with a bigger IQ than me needs to do something Thumbs Up V8 - HST Supercharger ..... The only way forward ! Wink

To be honest they were lucky that they got charged as "was found guilty under Section 5 of the Public Order Act of burning the poppies in a way that was likely to cause "harassment, harm or distress" to those who witnessed it."

If he burnt it in his back garden it would be different......but he burnt it as part of a protest at a rememberance parade!

And VA you may see this as inciting racial hatred, but when you are dark skinned like me and someone thinks it ok to take a few lumps out of your head just because you're the same colour as these scum bags - well you get my point.

I hate these guys more than ever, because it puts me in the line of fire, regardless of my religion. And yes in the minds of ignorant people I am the same - but why create this problem for me.

I have been thru it once in the 70's and 80's with the NF, I don't want to go through it again thanks....so do I hate these people? More than you realise.

Nick - I don't support this idiot I just think it adds fuel to the flames of racial hatred in this country by prosecuting him. The idiots on the far right will pick up on stories like this and as a result attacks on people who don't match their tattooed, pot belly, skinheaded look will rise. This moron has had his 15 minutes of fame and guess what he now wants to do it again next November. I also believe newspapers should stop reporting on cases like this for the good of everyone. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

You need to look at what you're saying VA - should we censor such news?

How about not publishing people who abuse children, or men who rape old ladies? Are we then inciting hatred of men in general, or are we inciting hate towards paedophiles? Perhaps we shouldn't have reported on bankers and their bonuses and how our country is nearly crippled, or politicians getting expenses paid by us - after all we can't be hating people that run our country or bankers that control our finances....

You cannot blank out news, with fear of it leading to persecution.

Peoples awareness of how people behave in whatever shape or form is key.

There is as much chance of hatred towards bankers/politicians as there is towards muslim extremists - so why exclude reporting on such matters?

Nick - not censor I just wouldn't report it. There are 100's of crimes a day that aren't reported in the press, it's up to editors to report what they feel is important and to me one idiot burning a poppy is irrelevant. Remember the press apart from the BBC is owned by private companies and they have an agenda. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
