POLL = What warranty cover do you have

just thought i would put the feelers out as I am convinced that LR warranty is great if you have purchased a new car or an approved... but if its not - what are you doing about having that peace of mind?

I have 2 other cars with a WMS 5 star warranty on them.

http://www.car-warranty-uk.com

These guys are great I paid just £300 to extend the warranty on my Jag XKR as it was about to run out and have claimed over £2000 of work on it this year - new torque converter and some sensors. No problems they paid up with in 24hrs

I've got one on my RR's!! When the dealer told me that he was putting one of their 5 star warranty’s on it I was delighted!! Cheers Laurence.

IMHO which warranty is a matter of choice, not having one is financial insanity. Had Tesco warranty on 2 D3s plus RAC recovery & estimate I would have been £8000 worse off if I didn't have them! So far with Warranty Direct not claimed more than a few hundred back on both but the big ticket items are covered along with wear & tear. These are expensive when (not if) they go wrong and have heard of loads of failed engines. Just not worth it!

These are my opinions, others vary!

just done a 24 monther with WD, and they are going to keep the cover level the same for the second year even though I'll be going over the mileage limit for the next band within the next 3-4 months.
The bloke was really helpful and struck a deal which was lower than the LR warranty and included wear and tear. 2007 RRS TDV8 Stornaway Grey with lots of smiles..

crazy to hold any modern car without some sort of warranty, be it manufacturers or extended aftermarket jobby (I got the extended LR official warranty). No longer a case of a few hundred quid here and there to fix things, it's thousands. And that's for relatively normal cars, let alone silly things like RRSs! Air suspension, transmission, electric everything.. it's a case of when not if

Are you familiar with the modern CAN-bus workings of a car like a RRS? have a dig into it if you aren't.. then you will understand why warranties are so essential!

For me agree with what RRSboy writes.

I have a none Landrover one and last year met the cost of new rear air suspension bag and was all sorted by the local independant garage no problem.

I shall look to provide extra cover when this runs out later this year and would think the one offered by kam100 looks a good deal.

What would be interesting is the feed back from people who have had to claim and their experiences. What may appear to be peace of mind has been known to be a costly mistake due to none cover in small print or other get out clauses used by the warranty providers.

I got a quote online with wd just for info really just to see what it came back at and for full warranty inclusive of all parts and labour with independent garage at £825ish for 12 months or £1083ish for main dealer repairs, then they rang me up today offering me 10% discount off the £825 policy,

Ady you can do a lot better than that!! Should be able to get it down to £550 -£600 for dealer rates, wear & tear, turbo and emissions. They have a weird way of doing things but if you know how far they will drop you can get a good deal. Look on D3 site to get an idea of what others have got. Thumbs Up

I got it down to £700 for full dealer labour rate, sat nav & audio cover (not included normally) wear & tear etc. All payable over 10 payments interest free. This was their Luxury Care cover. I think they would go cheaper for a 1 off payment.

I haven't accepted because i had a bad experience with them last time around so am just being cautious.

So far so good with WD, 2 x D3s covered since April and all claims paid without any problems. My sage advice is know what is covered and don't expect it to be as good as a manufacturer's cover, if you want that buy a new car. It's there to cover the big issues, fair number of TDV6 engines failing (incl 2 x 3.0 ones), so if it covers small things that's a bonus.
