IMHO which warranty is a matter of choice, not having one is financial insanity. Had Tesco warranty on 2 D3s plus RAC recovery & estimate I would have been £8000 worse off if I didn't have them! So far with Warranty Direct not claimed more than a few hundred back on both but the big ticket items are covered along with wear & tear. These are expensive when (not if) they go wrong and have heard of loads of failed engines. Just not worth it!

just done a 24 monther with WD, and they are going to keep the cover level the same for the second year even though I'll be going over the mileage limit for the next band within the next 3-4 months.

crazy to hold any modern car without some sort of warranty, be it manufacturers or extended aftermarket jobby (I got the extended LR official warranty). No longer a case of a few hundred quid here and there to fix things, it's thousands. And that's for relatively normal cars, let alone silly things like RRSs! Air suspension, transmission, electric everything.. it's a case of when not if

I got a quote online with wd just for info really just to see what it came back at and for full warranty inclusive of all parts and labour with independent garage at £825ish for 12 months or £1083ish for main dealer repairs, then they rang me up today offering me 10% discount off the £825 policy,

Ady you can do a lot better than that!! Should be able to get it down to £550 -£600 for dealer rates, wear & tear, turbo and emissions. They have a weird way of doing things but if you know how far they will drop you can get a good deal. Look on D3 site to get an idea of what others have got. |

So far so good with WD, 2 x D3s covered since April and all claims paid without any problems. My sage advice is know what is covered and don't expect it to be as good as a manufacturer's cover, if you want that buy a new car. It's there to cover the big issues, fair number of TDV6 engines failing (incl 2 x 3.0 ones), so if it covers small things that's a bonus. |
