Welcome to the forum M8. Thumbs Up

I'm getting a set of Wintrac Extreme 4's fitted to my 20"s tomorrow whilst the car is getting
serviced at Town & County Aberdeen. I was originally going to put a set onto some 19" wheels
but after some research it seems that the Wintracs are actually fine to leave on the car all year in the uk.
Since my Continentals are nearly due for replacement anyway (3-4 months) I decided to just give them a go on my 20"
wheels and maybe save some cash. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Cheers

My brother changed his for 19s but dont see the point if 20s will work as well in the white stuff.

Did you buy them through town and county or web?

Going to pull my finger out tomorrow after a few weeks thinking about ordering a set!

Managed to get a set of Kumho KC15s locally. Only after phoning around all Aberdeen and also a fair bit of internet searching. They appear to be the last set in aberdeen (got them from Kenway Tyres who supply Town & County Land Rover).

Not exactly a bargain at £236 each fitted. But should get the benefit over a couple of winters!

Now to tear them up on the snowy roads of Aberdeen! Twisted Evil

RRS should be 255/50/19 - there is an error in handbook - only found out myself reading James post re:winter tyres - your speedo will be inaccurate and may affect insurance Sad

255/55/19 is size for FFRR, D3 & D4 Confused

I am looking at 19" Avon Ranger Ice £509 for 4 Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Difference is 4.8% between original and replacement according to http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator.htm

Max recommended is 2.5% difference and as others here have found out LR are wriggling out of warranty claims if you have not fitted exact specification parts Evil or Very Mad

I would speak to LRCS - I was sold wrong wheels for my FL1 over a year ago by stealer but I only realised last month - they refused to do anything until LRCS intervened - now getting refund Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

At 60mph on speedo you will be doing 62.1 mph actual

2.5 difference relates to max differnce in sizes fitted to car EG: 55 and 50 profile have to big a difference to be mixed together so you will need to change them all and of course the spare wheel too Exclamation

It is in the manual as a recomended size, G4 spec have Goodyear MTR's fitted as standard which are 255x55x19

Speed and weight rating are what are important

Got my Wintrac 4's fitted yesterday and they are superb! Thumbs Up
Only slight concern reading the above posts is that they are 255/50/R20
/109 V.
Can anyone confirm this is correct? Surely it must be..... They were supplied &
fitted by a main dealer. Appreciate any feedback. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I am running standard 19s with normal Pirelli Scorpions. Done hill starts in 8 inches of snow; towed an E Class Merc that was stuck half way up a hill from a steep start; pulled an X5 out a ditch (the owner was so embarrassed); and not a slip or without fuss. Select low box, attached tow bar and rope and off we go. I can't see the benefit of snow tyres on a RRS. The car is superbly capable without them using the standard fit wheels and tyres. However, I do concede that low profile 20s or 22s would be a different story. I have ditched my own 20 inch SCs for the winter. If you see a bandwagon - it's too late.....

muffd, You have to remember that 2010 HSE's have 20"s as standard not the 19"s. My 2007 was great on 19" Rims with the standard fit Goodyear Wranglers. My 2010 with 20" Rims & Continentals was, quite frankly, Dangerous! 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

ah! I hadn't considered this fact. Apologies! Blinkered to the old model. I'll bear this in mind when I buy my new one in 2011

Cheers

That's ok M8.. As I was saying earlier, so far the Vredestein Wintrac Extreme 4's seem to be pretty amazing. I took them along an uncleard minor road yesterday and did some "testing" Whistle They didn't let me down once, they were especially impressive during emergency stops... which is handy Mr. Green
It also seems that they are perfectly good to leave on the car all year in the UK.. Which is a bonus Thumbs Up
as the conti's were not only useless on snow but were also very poor when driven through standing water across or at the side of the road. I for one am glad to be rid of them! My conti's still had a good 3-4 months wear left on them but when the garage asked if I wanted to keep them I said they could just bin them as I'd never put such poor tyres back on my car. If I do end up putting summer tyres on (which I am hoping not to do) then I will be using a different make than continental. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black
