err... removal of the nut was implied, sorry. I did remove the nut and the arm should now lift off - right? However whenever i try to leverage it off, the plastic surround beneath the wiper arm gives way before anything else so there is zero leverage |

Sorry to hijack the thread a little but when the nut is removed is there a splined bar or hex shaped bar ?

On mine it is a tapered shaft - recently went in for service and was 'adjusted' because it was parking off screen - few days later it wouldn't drive (luckily passenger side) - Stratstones advised of issue and sent LRA out to tighten nut and new cap in the post. DIY but at the time not my issue and unknown if a greater problem.
