United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HSE Stornoway Grey

Just seen a thread about RLD's spare wheel protector which is now part of the shopping list (wish I knew of the spare wheel vulnerability earlier Big Cry )

Anyway ...... I've got a 2007 4.2 s/c which has 20inch wheels (275 40 zr20 tyres), but the owners manual states that a 20inch wheel shouldn't be stored under the car. Can anyone advise as to what size replacement wheel/tyre I should be looking for (thanks!!). Rangie History ....

Yup - will need new winch too - cable cut Sad

Ah, ok, so the 20inch wheel does fit underneath on a 2007 car regardless of what the manual says?? If so, that's cool as I'd prefer a proper replacement rather than a space saver, or an unmatched smaller wheel tbh.

Is Ray's (RLD) protector a complete replacement, or does it just attach to the existing winch?

(Thanks again for your advice - the car was so new (to me), that I'd not even got around to looking at the spare wheel to see what size/type etc it was, hence not knowing what size replacement to look for) Sad Rangie History ....

You will need a spare protector & a new winch - you can get a newer version winch that has the anti theft sleeve fitted but would still recommend the additional security from Ray.

Although ..... (looking for a slight sighting of an "upside" here, and trying to put on a brave face) ..... the weight saving from not carrying a spare wheel has vastly improved the 4.2's MPG figures - LOL! Rangie History ....

Don't do that many miles per year, so I wouldn't have seen much fuel cost savings from a diesel - and because of the mpg figures, the car was cheaper to buy than an equiv diesel model.

But all that aside, I knew I wanted it on the first test drive - that lovely exhaust rumble and the whine from the supercharger ..... yes please Mr Car Dealer ..... where do you want me to sign?? LOL

Due to the weather, I've not had a chance to give it a proper wash and polish, so I've only got the photos I saved from the dealer's website, but ....

(The dealer's photobooth made the passenger door look a different colour, but it's not ... honest!! LOL) Rangie History ....

Thanks matey - I'm as pleased as can be with her! For a 9 year old car (but only 59k miles), she is in amazingly good condition imho - I'm as happy as the cat that got the cream ...... (excluding today's little issues, obviously!) Rangie History ....

Any plans to add or mod parts Whistle the best mod IMO is a new steering wheel - leave the rest as it is Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

The only styling mod I've done, is swap the wheel centre caps for the all black range rover ones - looks wise, not planning to do anything else ...... it might be my age, but I quite like the stock look tbh Smile

Already made/planning a few little changes, but just to make her look her best (or add some functionality) rather than anything else:

1/. New EPB switch fitted - the original had a little circular mark on it - nobody else noticed the mark ..... OCD maybe?
2/. Planning to fit one of Bodsy's Bluetooth modules (just to get the phonebook uploaded to the car)
3/. Duracell AGM battery fitted - holds charge and handles starting cycles from short journey's better than normal batteries
4/. May do the light mod so the rear reading lamps light up when the doors are opened, but will need to learn to solder first
5/. Lastly, may look at upgrading the internal lamps (and reversing lights) to LED just for a little extra brightness

Cosmetically, I may get two small marks on the n/s b-pillar touched up properly - not 100% sure, as they're hardly visible.

Also, the drivers door sill is a little scuffed (previous owner must've used it as a step to get in and out), so will probably get that blown over when the weather warms up.

Pretty boring plan really when compared to some of the upgrades others have done!! Rangie History ....
