Homebuild & Renovation House of the Year 2010

For the last 3 years I have been working on a house called the Moonstone Project - I have designed and installed the complete electrical, av and automation systems in the house with an ECO perspective. It has now been shortlisted for the Homebuilding and Renovation 2010 House of the Year (eco bias)

So, if you like it, please vote for it

Front on it looks horrendous, looks like a beach hut or some sort of 50's pre fab architecture, utterly horrible.

Looks ok inside though Whistle Thumbs Up L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

Great to see finished pictures of this Kaine, I remember you posting early pictures. Is the house scalable down to normal sizes to still be energy positive? I presume water is from a well if there is no mains supply.

As far as windturbines are concerned, in my experience they are a waste of time. At my kid's school we've had a 9m and then 15m turbine for 6 years, on a site that is the windiest school in the county with just open farm land to the sea. Luckily we haven't had to buy it otherwise it would have been a monumental loss. I noticed on Grand Designs a house had a similar experience with a 13m one. Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

looks good, I quite like the outside, little bit different etc

My dads just had 20 or so Solar pannels placed on his house roof, by a company FOC Shocked

He gets reduced electric through the day and they get any unused energy generated back which IIRC they sell to the national grid and i think they got a grant of some sorts for putting them up

Company was called "a shade greener" if anybody is interested

Just been think about this thread

With things like this they often search for links to voting pages, as they sometimes see it as false voting, getting people to vote just because they know you one way of another

Might be wise to change the thread links to be a more indirect link somehow

you won't want all your hard work to be struck off due to vote cheating etc

Unfortunately I have been requested to do a blog about the technology which will be added to this site Confused

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

It is a great concept but I don't know if anybody else feels this but I find most of these eco/passive/low carbon houses to be totally soul-less and cold. I had to laugh at the one on Grand Designs last night with all the fancy penny pinching energy saver, low carbon etc,etc ideas and then they go and build a whacking great double garage for two large Hondas on the side and neither of them a hybrid.................. he must have been gutted not to have got anything back from his wind turbine too, nice garden ornament though, I'm sure the local wood pigeons love it as a roost 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced

Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

You're spot on - John has always said Positive Energy rather than ECO
