I am not sure if the upper section of the tailgate is working correctly? The main tailgate open fine with the round button, but the upper section won't open. Is it set to ow open with some weird locking set up, is there a way to wipe all the locking settings etc so I can open it? If its just broken what is the likely cause? Is there a way to know for sure?

Are you trying to open the upper tailgate while the main tailgate is also open? They are mutually exclusive. If not, then you might have a faulty switch or may be a blown fuse (if the the two tailgates use different fuses). |

Quite a few posts on here about corroded switches so if you do find its broken, I think I recall seeing here that its a fairly easy fix. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Thanks guys. Will try the oval button tomorrow. Wasn't trying to open the upper tailgate with the main tailgate open. Maybe it is the oval button? Will try tomorrow.

Likely to be the microswitch, easy enough to change tbh. Bodsys Brake Bible

Tried the oval button but still can't open the upper section of the tailgate. What shall I try next? 2014 RRS HSE, SVR body kit fitted.
