Interval of oil change

I use Castrol 5/30 in my 2007 RRS. The Castrol web site states that the oil should be changed every 6,000miles (10,000ks), however the Land Rover dealer states that this is not necessary and the change can take place at 12,000 miles (20,000ks)
The oil filter is also changed at the same interval (6,000 miles)
Hamish (RRS 2007) has done 62,000 klm and does not use any oil between changes.
The views of our readers are requested please.

Every car I have ever had has a new filter and oil regardless at 6k intervals.....

Likewise 30k for gearbox....
