Sunroof woes

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, having got my first RRS 4 wks ago. Wonderful car Very Happy

Many of you had to replace the sunroof panel with integrated seal? Mine's allowing water to leak into car when parked on a steep slope (only), so I hope a new one will fix the problem. It's not the drain tubes. I can see a 1mm gap at front or rear of seal, despite adjusting the four torx screws that hold panel in place.

At least new panel/seal is £137 inc VAT & not £300 as I read somewhere... Big Cry

Cheers

500mls of water siphoned out of the footwell and my little electric heater's drying it all out.

I'll be checking my carpets regularly, and my sunroof. Ahhh the joys of RR ownership.

By the way, hello to the 40-odd viewers of my post who haven't said hello to a newbie Crying or Very sad

Maybe you're too busy fixing your leaks too... Rolling with laughter

Sorry to hear you have a small problem, it can be quite disappointing indeed. I am sure you will fix it! What kind of RRS did you get?

Are you 100% sure it's the sun roof. If your car has had a windscreen replaced there is a chance the fitter has damaged a seal that also can cause a leak.

Also this link to our sister site might be of help.

Well the plot thickens...

The sunroof panel with it's integral seal definitely needed to be replaced because the seal had shrunk so much that water was pouring in past the drip guard and onto the seats when parked nose down hill, despite adjustment of the sunroof.

I then moved on to check that water left the front drains and ended up on the ground with the nose down hill. Fine on the left side, (comes out at the mudflap) but clearly water drains into the driver's side footwell from the right drain.

Lots of wires and earth bolts around there to cause havoc if they rust...

I'll lower the headlining tomorrow and see if the pipe has detached from the sunroof gutter/frame assembly.

Anyone else had this?

I'll be making sure I enjoy that blasted sunroof when it's all done! Big Cry 2006 TDV6 SE, Zermatt Silver

Now dropped the edge of the headliner - no leak where R front drain pipe attaches onto sunroof frame. It's all bone dry, as is air bag, wiring in A-pillar etc. I am sure because I poured 100mls of water down the drain hole and it all gurgled rapidly away, with the car facing down hill.

No water comes out of R front drain onto the ground, and it's going into R footwell. So I can only assume that somehow, the end of the drain in leaking into the car.

Any of you ever known of this? Will be trying to find the exit (lower) end of the R front drain pipe tomorrow.

Turning into a bit of a pain in the Censored this! Big Cry 2006 TDV6 SE, Zermatt Silver
