As the owner of 8 LR's over the last 10 years I have had very few reliability issues but according to Which they are the worst for reliability

I have only had one Land Rover out of 7 owned in the last 16 years that let me down at the roadside, it was an early Disco2 TD5 Auto and it shredded an auxy drive belt on the way to the dealership to be handed in for a shiney new Freelander1 GS TD4 Auto. My RRS TDv6 had one spell of going into limp home mode but it never actually stopped and LRA came out and plugged in a laptop and diagnosed a problem with a coolant sensor IIRC. The best car of the lot has been my Defender as I have owned it now for nearly 9 years, it gets proper servicing by a non franchised specialist using genuine LR parts even though it never does more than 3000-4000 miles a year and often less, but it gets abused in those few miles as it is my offroad toy, but it gets used the way it was designed to be used.

If I read the article right, it would appear that its the public that's filled in the questions for Which so its not just a journalist making it up as he goes along!

I wonder how many people answer based on their understanding rather than experience - my instant response to KIA is reliable but that's only due to the warranty - have no experience of the real reliability of them - how many people think LR and unreliable. Just bought my wife an Alfa Mito and everyone says alfa's breakdown all the time - sweeping statements seem to live with all brands

Wouldn't have put Alfa with crap engines. Drove a gtv6 once and it was amazing thing to drive to drive! The noise from the exhaust and the grunt it had were brilliant! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

I wonder if owners of Merc are to imbarassed to admit their cars are C**P!!! My father had a ML280 cdi, it was in the workshop weekly, and then finally the gearbox packed in at nearly 100k miles!!! Now he has a ML350 cdi, he just bought it but its 6 months old and within a month he has had to take it in due to the float in the fuel tank disintergrating!!!!

Just sold my V8 Diesel HST, that goodness its gone, biggest heap of junk every made, poor build quality, sat nav that is just pathetic(if it works- crashes most of the time), suspension knocks irrespective of any modification done (the last repair did last 7,000 miles), did 31000 miles and glad the heap has gone.

I have to agree - I had a freelander for 7 years that was perfect but the MY10 RRS is now ten months old and has 14 different faults or manafacturing defects. It still ends up in the garage once every 3-4 weeks and has never fully worked since I collected it. Really shocking for a £60k car - LR customer serice is poor and think this state of affairs is acceptable - I don't know what planet they inhabit. |

If I lifted the floor of the boot in my 09 RRS on the underside of the handle there was "Volvo UK" embossed in the plastic!! The 10 plate Freeby 2 I was driving while my RRS was in the garage had FoMoCo stickers all over the engine and gearbox!! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur. 535d m-sport Platinum grey and a few extras.... Gone X5 3.0 sd in Space Grey, 20's, Dynamic Pack, Memory Pack, Media Pack, Tow Pack, Rear DVD, Panoramic Sunroof, Steps, 7 Seat Pack, Reversing Camera with moving lines, programmable park heat, etc etc etc - Gone Range Rover Sport Santorini, privacy, dvd, towpack GONE!!! |
