Deadlocking / Superlocking

I have a 2005 Sport Supercharged and I am looking for some help around deadlocking or superlocking the vehicle.

When I lock the doors with the remote by pressing the button once, all doors lock and the latch on the internal door handle moves in to the mid position. Then next press the button on the remote again I can hear the door locks activate again and the latch on the door handle does not move. I seem to remember that the latch used to move again but seems to have stopped doing this.

If I do this from inside of the car the doors do not appear to deadlock as the doors can be opened from inside of the car.

How can you tell that the car is deadlocked and the locking is functioning correctly?

Should the door handle latch move to a different position?

Thanks

As far as I know if you press the button once it locks it, press it twice it locks it but disables the alarm, eg. if you have left kids in back for a minute or your dog. (or wife)

Double pressing lock button on key disables internal volume sensor so as said earlier you do not set the alarm of if you leave dog or sprogg in car

So how do you deadlock the car in superlock mode?

Superlocking is activated by one press of the lock button on the remote control and the doors can only be opened (from inside or outside of the vehicle) with the correct key or remote control.

Pressing the lock button twice within three seconds disables the superlocking, tilt sensing and interior space protection. You do this if passengers or animals are to be left in the vehicle & windows and/or sunroof are left open.

This feature also locks the vehicle but leaves the fuel filler door open. Very useful when you are filling up at the petrol station and want to leave the vehicle unattended for a while. Malaysia Boleh!

So they have completely reversed this for the 2010 models which is confusing! On mine you double press to superlock it. This is from the owners manual. I just checked to make sure:

Double Locking
Press the lock button twice within three seconds. Double locking secures the vehicle and prevents the doors being unlocked or opened from inside or outside of the vehicle, except with a recognised Smart Key. The
perimetric (exterior) alarm and interior space protection is turned on. The hazard warning lamps will flash twice (with a long second flash) and an audible warning will sound as confirmation (if enabled). See ARMING THE
ALARM (page 26).
Double locking provides additional security if the vehicle is left unattended. The vehicle cannot be opened by breaking a window and operating the door locks from inside the vehicle.

The interior sensors can only be disabled through the vehicle setup menu. That's a bit of a pain when you want to leave a dog/child in the car or want to leave the sunroof open. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

So what happens with one press of the key then Question

Quite often on Ferries so being able to switch off alarm but keeing it locked is very useful, especially on a rough crossing, unless I want to annoy the crew and have a flat battery at the other end Exclamation

It doesn't double lock so if someone smashed the windows they could then open the door from inside. I don't know why that is the default. Its the same on my Alfa too.

You can still disable the interior sensor and also the tilt sensor but you have to do it through the setup menu before you switch the ignition off. My alarm went off earlier today as I had left the sunroof open and I looked everywhere for a button to disable it. I had to resort to reading the manual! WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Its not very difficult. This used to be the system in the P38s. Smile
Unlike the mechanics at the dealers, its not like you have to drive different year models every day! Laughing

Single Locking: Press lock button once briefly.
Double Locking is Superlocking: Press the lock button twice within three seconds.

On ferries, use Single locking. Wink Malaysia Boleh!

No, that still activates the mention sensors inside the car and will set the alarm off if someone moves or if the sunroof is left open (as I've found out) or on a ferry. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award
