Do speed tickets count to points here in dubai? And eventually loss of licence? I have a client who lives in Zurich and has a 599, and gets lots of tickets but doesn't mind as his licence never gets revoked....

As an owner of a Land Rover Defender and also a 1998 Discovery we usually need a good run up at a speed camera before we can boast about being done for speeding in a Land Rover Rolling with laughter .

Joking aside. If you accumilate enough speeding fines then you will get black points and possible suspension of licence and car impounded for a certain period. I have seen outstanding fines on the Dubai Police website ammounting to hundreds of thousands of Dhs! These are usually cars owned by Sheikhs etc and they never have to pay them Rolling Eyes
I was driving one Sheikh Hamads cars last month and got a speeding fine...the Palace called me and told me to pay it within 24hrs!......so I did!

United Arab Emirates 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange

I had my RRSS in for its first service under my ownership at Al Tayer yesterday. I told them the front wiper blades were a bit worn so check them out and replace anything that needs replaced.

Imagine my surprise when I'm charged 2000 Dhs for a rear wiper motor that apparently wasn't working. No way of knowing this as in my 7 months of ownership, I've never even used the rear wiper.

2 days to do a service too. Once the warranty has expired, I'll be using these guys instead, they have been recommended to me by several people:

GavTech that's a shame as I only had good experiences with Al Tayer. However, I will say that Icon Motors are also very good. Owned and run my a Brit, I used them on my old RR Classic and their service faultless. It usually takes them a while longer for the service but the job was always spot on and they never tried to take the pi55 with either labour or parts. 2006 RRS S/C CONSTANTLY under modification...

I've known Chris @ Icon for many years and have been his co-driver in the Icon Rally Raid Unimog since 2007. Top chap and really fun to race with. Rolling with laughter

You might also want to talk to Gordon at AAA in Rashidiya (not the Al Quoz branch) and Gareth from A2b Al Quoz who also have good experiance with higher end Rovers.

AAA would be my reccomendation though and will be getting my business once my warranty expires.

Each and every non-affiliated garage in Dubai has had it's fair share of good and bad reports over the years so try to find someone with the same car as yours and get their feedback before trusting a workshop with your pride and joy. Brits may run the management here but they don't yeld the spanners!
AAA have the proper Rover Computers for fault diagnosis, so do Team Saluki's new workshop in Al Quoz.

Trying to find the best of a bad bunch is always a problem here, but the Brit run shops will usually get the problems sorted...eventually.
