can you get spare keys de-programed so they are un-usable

My understanding is that the car is programmed to respond to the keys issued when built. If new keys are issued it has to be programmed to recognise them and in the same way it can be programmed to "delete" existing keys. Needs the dealer to connect their computer to do this though.

Out of curiosity vik, why would you want to do that? Malaysia Boleh!

in regard to your conundrum...

If you have 1 particular key in existence (somewhere) that you want de-activating - why don't you just throw it away.

Ony do this is you have an original, of course. And then next week get another spare, at the dealers.

Perhaps it is a spare key that he knows is around but not in his poccession.

Programming keys is only doable at main dealers, so would presume the same for de activating key
