I have one RRS with already body lifted for that noise inspection. Will take a look at headers/manifolds for exhaust smoke leak there. The noise is heard when windows shut, only sitting inside and accelerating on neutral at about 1100RPMS and in drive mode driving and about 2500RPMS.


BTW I have lifted a lot of bodies in the past so just counted the time for the last time and it took me 3:30 hrs to fully lift TDV8 body. The pics in your gallery shows and seems like body lift done for the first time the same as me. It was done too much unnecessary job

found broken stud and one corner of header leaking, will post some pics later

Appears my RRS too has experienced this issue. Same tell tale hissing noise when accelerating and has been diagnosed by LR as faulty cross pipe and faulty manifold gasket. The parts are being replaced and body needs to be separated to do so. They've had the car for about a week, should be back tomorrow fingers crossed.

Mines a 12MY and short conversation with the LR mechanic would suggest it can be quite common. Had the car a year so under LR warranty thankfully. I've had few mechanical faults and it's spent about a month of the 12, I've owned it, in the garage. Plan to now start conversation now with LR as to whether they think that's acceptable.

Just stumbled on this thread and my 2011 RRS has te exact problem described in the tech bulletin. Private garage that I know has quoted £1200 to replace the manifold. Would I have any joy approaching LR since it was a known issue?

Is your RRS a TDV8?
In previous posts you mentioned having a TDV6. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Mine is a 2011 TDV6, the symptoms sound exactly as described and this is what the garage believe it to be too.

Anyone know of any other good independents in the Essex area, the place I normally go to can't have the work done until the New Year.
