I second that.
A MB Pro 15" should do.
I would advise you wait a few more weeks as Apple will most certainly upgrade their entire Pro laptop
range in April or first of May.
Apple support is second to none and I use their laptops since 12 years without any hassle. I still have
a PowerBook dating 2002 which my wife uses several hours a day.

All depens of your need.
I bought a Mac Book 13" to my daughter 16 months ago, she's very rude with it and it works like a charm.
Paid it 800 before tax.
A Pro 15" is more like 1500 € (1300 £).

I'd advise to buy direct on the phone from the Apple Store.
Two reasons :
- you should get a 6 % discount if you're a company (4% if you're an individual)
- delivery is free
- if you're not happy with it, you return it within 14 days, RMA paid by Apple.
- you may claim VAT instantly : Apple will refund it on whatever credit card you used for payment.
Very convenient.

Mmh, if experience serve, you need to clean your system every month.
I had a main system blockage with the PPC 17" of my wife. I erased OS
and did a thorough clean install. Since then, it's rejuvenated.

LCD screen going has nothing to do with a re-install, it's the shelf life of an LCD screen - first generation Mac Book Pro - Apple said it's becoming more apparent that the shelf life of the product can cause this. New screen costs £500 from Apple...£250 with a good Apple expert in Bath......

Life expectancy of any component in any machine is directly related to its maintenance.
Any external element (dust heating up processor) can shorten your Mac's life.
We have a PPC 17" 8 years old now, screen is like day one.
If you periodically clean your Mac from all those undesirable files, processor
and motherboard won't be unnecessarily workloaded.
I do Onyx on our iMacs every week and free it from 2 Gb worth of log files and so on.
