Just based on (my) facts. I work on Macs since 1993.
All in all, no virus, almost no downtime, no blue screen…
I used dozens of machines and just broke 3 : a laptop I've sent
knocking down on a table, and 2 other Macs that
had a problem — out of warranty.
Apple repaired them — as if under warranty.
Recently, they replaced the screen of one iMac we have here. There was just some dust
behind the glass cover.
Outstanding service.
That's Apple.

I own and use various Mac, Windows and native Unix based systems on a daily basis.

Non are perfect for all users and all requirements.

Unless you are a power user or need access to certain apps not available on the Mac, i would go along with the users on this site and say get a mid-range Apple Mac.

Before you decide, check that you can get the apps you need, can properly use the websites you want to access, that it works with other devices in your home and that you have considered the slightly higher initial costs. 2010MY HSE 3.0 TDV6. Stornoway Grey/Ivory. Extended leather, winter pack.

Hi all...

Got to be Apple.... Our office ran like clock work for years from OS 8 with Filemaker Pro up. All until the time when our accounting system could not cope with the size or should I say complexity of the business.... We bought 10 HP PC's and a server and are now running Sage line 50. Bloody awful now. It falls down on a regular basis. The time I spend on housekeeping during the week is unreal!! We have a fully kitted out studio With a Carrilon Pc and a G5 and PowerMac.... I personally run an old PowerMac, 17" Intel Macbook Pro and Imac (for home) We also have 2 G5 Intels for the marketing and Design side and they are a joy to use.....

If I could I would throw every PC in the bin and go back to Mac's but there is not an accounting system that runs on Mac's that will do what I require...... Yet.....

Alex

Sorry but just got to put some people right on the "Macs don't get viruses" comment. This is a complete myth, Macs are JUST as vulnerable to viruses as PC's. The reason it's not so widely understood is simple. There are massively more PC's out there than MACs and as such they are targeted more by the authors of viruses, but there are & always have been virsuses that target MACs as well. So do not think that buying a MAC protects you from Viruses this is simply not true and you will still need an Internet Security package. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

If PC Sony are the ones to beat in my mind, not cheap but well built durable and good screens.

Have considered Mac but as have a lot of software programs, would cost an awful lot to re buy again. Depends on your software needs as Mac's do not have such a wide choice as PC's

See Kaine, its not just me Laughing Lespes you can run Windows 7 Vista or XP natively or in a virtual machine so no problem. Endjin, my understanding is that there are no viruses in the wild for Mac, trojans yes but not viruses. Apple makes up 10% or so of the market so why in 3 years haven't I had problems or anyone else? If I had a PC I couldn't say that. Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate
