2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black
RRS S/C MPG?

I'm looking to buy a Supercharged model but I am horrified of stories 9 to 11 mpg (Imp) in city driving. Can supercharged owners please share what mpg do you get both urban and not and what is your driving style? I really want one it looks awesome in black

Sapkan The reports are about right I am getting about 11 or 12 from my WHITE!!!! SC, My friend gets about 8 from his but must admit (you will be the same) we do drive them hard. You just can't help yourself you always need to hear the Super Charger whine. Good luck with your future purchase.

I think the best overall consumption quoted by an SC owner on here is about 18mpg (RRUK?) on long motorway journeys. While this doesn't sound SO bad... it's the urban cycle that kills you. 10-12mpg is really par for the course there. You really have to think carefully about how much a car like that is going to cost you in petrol... Confused

5000 miles in town

I've had my S/C since last september and 90% of the 5000miles covered have been around town - it has been the winter months as well - so cold engine starts & when I go home cold again. The car hardly warms up on its day to day journey. ie leave home - drop son off at school - continue to work..... this is in total approx 2 miles. I may pop out at lunch - anothe 2 or 3 miles - then pick son up from school & go home - anothe few miles - so may only do 10 or so miles a day. But all week it is short / cold trips.

I have just looked at the trip and its exactly 13mpg so it has improved slightly Very Happy

On the few longer trips I have done it is returning approx 16 - 18 mpg

So you have to ask yourself - how many miles a year are you likely to do??? If you can afford the Supercharged & dont do many miles - then go for it. IT IS SUPURB , but, if you are a high miler then it may be more prudent to buy the TDV6?

I know that if I had bought a TDV6 - it would cost me more to fill up as diesel costs more.... and with my low mileage what would I have saved over a year ....... not a great deal. Even if I said a £1000 ....... so what! its worth it for the shear enjoyment of the SUPERCHARGED experience Thumbs Up

2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

I drive about 20 000 to 30 000km per year so I will have to think hard about this one. 22 to 26l per 100km in city mode, its quite a heavy drinker. There just isnt any other 4x4 that I like as much as I do the Rangie. Why did they have to make it so heavy (2600kg!!!)? I would prefer 300-400kg less with less offroad ability.

btw can it be fed 95 RON or does it require 98 RON?

LR don't even recommend running on biodiesel, let alone used chip fat - what hope is there of a factory approved LPG conversion! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Friend of mine had his 4.6HSE done a few years back.

Doesn't affect actual consumption, just fuel is cheaper although that is creeping up now.

They were talking about this bioethanol business on the radio when I was coming home. There's two cars in all of the UK market that can be spec'd with these flexi-fuel engines (Saab 95 and the Focus) and the fuel (if you can find it) is only 2p per litre cheaper than std unleaded! So, I ask... what's the point of that? Rolling Eyes

MPG

18mpg on a motorway run (500mls +)

15.5 average around town/mixed driving (after 4000mls +)

Don't worry, just buy it... Life is too short and if you can afford a S/C then you can afford the petrol..
