Will Not Start in Cold Weather

Have an intermittent fault with TDv6 diesel starting in cold weather which has flattened the battery, jump started it from my wife’s Ford Galaxy when weather warmed up to about 4degrees and started ok.

Next morning over night frost and wouldn’t start again, call RAC out they started it with jumping and some spray (don’t know if some sort of quick start stuff?) RAC man suggested problem was glow plugs??

Took to local LR specialist who said battery was low and not glow plug as no fault on computer, they recharged battery started fine and thought problem solved

Next morning wouldn’t start so back to LR specialist, now saying primary fuel pump not pumping at high enough pressure but not fault code re low fuel pressure on RRS’s he is waiting for a gauge to check pressure so still waiting answer , anyone any ideas???? Sad

Trace back to starter and check there - could also be fuel filter (maybe pump).

A few instances of cold starting issues recorded here - search for "+cold +start" Very Happy

This may be a stupid question but are you allowing the glow plug light on the dash to go out before trying to start, as the engine will not fire up untill the plugs are ready and the yellow plug light out will tell you?

Latest from garage is that they believe the car has been mis-fuelled with some petrol in the diesel tank, having Confused checked with previous owner who put £1.76 of petrol in 40k miles ago.

Garage checking if to change one or both fuel pumps and or injectors sound very expensive, however runs but lumpy when idling
