2010 headlights condensation

A few new owners of 2010 RRS on our US forum have reported quite a bit of condensation forming inside their headlights clusters of their cars recently. A Canadian owner posted a picture - the condensation had turned into ice and looked downright dangerous in my opinion, as that ice could easily impair the effectiveness of the headlights (until it melts away and evaporates, which may take a while considering how much water collected in there.) Thread w/ picture here: http://rangerovers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=35345

I have never noticed anything like that on my 2006, so I am wondering if this may be yet another "improvement" affecting the new 2010s only? Anyone else here having similar issues?

Had not had this problem on my 2006, until the last couple of mornings when temp dropped below zero. Looked icey inside but not as bad as posted.
wondering if a temp thing as over in the Channel Isles very rarely gets to below zero

I have it on mine both front and rear. A friend of mine saw it at the weekend who is a warranty manager for a chain of Audi garages and he said to take the car back and get them replaced. Not sure it is bad enough to warrant that yet. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

I notice mine can mist up inside when washing the car, guess it is caused when spraying the cold water from hosepipe and the cold weather at the moment, not sure if this is a problem or not really, cant say I noticed it on my 2006 model but then I rarely washed it in the cold.. At £544+VAT (for a pre 2010MY RRS, so I expect 2010MY will be even more expensive) a unit if the headlamp fails because of water inside it, I would be looking for a replacement set under warranty until LR fix the problem

2003 -2005 FFRR's suffered badly with this as well in the rear lights and LR had a fix for it that dealers applied when you took your car in for a service and complained.

One wonders what the result of the water coming into contact with the lamp would be seeing there are huge voltages involved with Bi-Xenons. My experience of driving in heavy snow with Bi Xenons has not be encouraging either - they do not generate enough heat on the polycarbonate outer lense / glass to melt snow stiking the front of the car - you get a build up of snow caked onto the front of the headlight unit and gradually dimming headlights.................. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I've now got condensation in my headlights, noticed it this morning (the outside temp was -6) Evil or Very Mad

Could the LED's be the problem?.........I am assuming a zenon or any other bulb creates some heat which would normally 'dry' out any moisture............. or am i talking Censored Confused

Either way it shouldn't be happening Evil or Very Mad

Has anyone approched LR about it yet? MY10 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt Silver, 20" Diamond Turned Alloys, Factory Privacy Glass, Premium Leather, Contrast Stiching, Side Steps, Etc

looks exactly like mine, posted previously after being told its normal and bulb heat will dry them out! Meant to march in to the Stealers and make a fuss, but not got around to it yet. Did get to try it out in snow yesterday, awesome! Thumbs Up Was going to attach picture but dont know how to do it, not being as smart as the average bear[/img] purple people eater

This is really common with all modern cars, particularly those with Xenons as they run very cool. BMWs suffer really badly. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

i have never had this problem with previous RR's and RRS's but I did have a problem with spot lights on a Skoda once. Should it be normal? and should we accept it considering the type of motor it is and the cost we have paid to have something just that little bit special? I am not happy but am I in order to demand repair and/or replacement under warrenty? all four lens affected on mine. Photos on My Gallery purple people eater

I'm not saying that you should accept it, but it is a common problem so I hope that LR will come up with a solution with the headlamp manufacturer soon. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

ISTR when reading about the purchase of my FL2 that they have a gore-tex membrain in the light units to allow condensation out but not back in Confused

With them been sealed units, maybe if your undid the bulb holders when the better weather come and then allow them to dry out, then once sealed again it might be sorted Idea

I would not accept is as normal, I'm sure it would affect the light output.
Try going through MOT like that and tell them is normal. '08 RRS TDV8
