Air on inside of plastic is slightly moist and warm and condenses on contact with surface exposed to cooler conditions. It's physics I'm afraid. Have it slghtly on mne, I think a fog is acceptable as mine clears quickly. If there is actual water present in droplets, then I'd definately get them looked at.

Only way around it is to either make the plastic covers double glazed or manufactuer them in a zero moisture factory and seal them for life using nitrogen or something. 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

still think its wrong to accept this, does not feel right at all

Already posted about car appearing dampish inside, now noticed rear screen heater takes an age to clear, rear window very wet sometimes, but even when just misty seems to take longer than i would expect, obviously working cos you can see it slowly clearing round the elements, but sure other cars i have had performed better. Anyone else noticed this purple people eater

I had this problem on my FL2 headlights, probably because I had it open for a while modifying.
I put a small pack of silica gel inside the headlight assembly, just wrapped it to a wire using a piece of string (insulation tape will prevent it from working) so that it wont move around and I don't have any condensation anymore.
Silica gel packs absorbs moisture and normally you can find them inside electronic packings that you would open during xmas... Smile.

I think the difference is: when I'm not in the RRS I'm in an old battered Astravan van that does 0-60 in 10mins 14secs and the rear window follows suit !! Laughing

Experienced the condensation problem on my new MY10 RRS and had new headlights fitted by the supplying dealer last week and guess what, when they drove the car onto the forecourt the new ones had 6cm of condensation in the bottom of both lights! Dealer refused to order further replacements and was told to contact LR Customer Care who were a bit confused at the dealer attitude. Awaiting their response after emailing photo's of fogged up headlights. Will post response when received.

Not the first problem on the RRS since delivery in mid September. So far 5 warranty visits for lots of niggles: steering pulling to left (took 3 visits to sort), rust on rear screen frame, paint blemishes, centre console replaced, rear door retaining strap seized, wrong mudflaps fitted front and reat and finally still waiting for a full size spare wheel as incorrect one fitted at factory. Ho hum... the way it's going it looks like I will have more warranty visits than my last 2006 MY RRS which managed 12 in 3 years Exclamation Neutral Long suffering RRS Owner, but I can't help it!

Atmospheric conditions...well here is the reply I received from Landrover Customer Services following the second set of headlights having condensation in both lenses (MY 2010 delivered mid Sept!!).

I have spoken with our warranty team and discussed the pictures you have provided. I have been advised by one of Land Rovers engineers that the condensation shown in all of rthe attached photos is representative of any Land Rover headlamp and that it is unlikely that any signifficant betterment could be obtained by changing them once more. I am due to be speaking to our warranty team to discuss there thoughts on this concern as soon as I have there feedback I will inform you accordingly.

I am out of the office tomorrow at the very latest i will respond on Friday with some thoughts on how to proceed.

Kind Regards

...'representative of Land Rover headlamp'... presumably Landrover code for we source the cheapest quality products.

I've taken to looking at other car headlights (sad I know) and very few seem to suffer the condensation problems so we are being fobbed off with excuses. I'm not going to let this one lie!!! Long suffering RRS Owner, but I can't help it!

It is strange that there is a "head in the sand" attitude to this as the very early 2002/2003 FFRR's all suffered from this in the rear light cluster and it was fixed under warranty by Land Rover. I think the fix involved replacing the light clusters with a new one with a seal on it, it was done for all the car's where the owner had complained about it. Mine got done went in to have some other recall done. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I have just got my new RRS last night, after turning my back on years of Porsche!! I love it, but i seem to have the same condensation problem, I have an appointment monday at my local dealer, is there anything specific I should tell them if they try to brush me off?? As i've never dealt with RR/LR before.

I'll keep you all posted on how is goes... but to be honest rrsowner is making me panic!!
