BOBBLES! Not looking good - Rear N/S shock has collapsed....

I noticed a knocking noise come from the rear suspension when travelling relatively slowly (25-35mph) over rutted tarmac. Best way to describe it is a "bobbling" noise.

When my 2007 RRS TDV8 is parked it is visually noticeable that there is more of a gap between the top of the wheel arch and top of tyre on one side of the car than the other.

I pumped the suspension up to full hight (not extended heigh)t and got under the car... immediately saw that there is a lot more shock showing on one side than the other (out of the adjustable suspension housing).

Anyone else had this problem know if there is grounds for a warranty claim given it is still in warranty? My opinion is that things like this should not happen on a £58k car in the current day and age.

Thanks

Are you parkng the car on even gound? If you are then the the different gap under each wheelarch should mean that the whole of the car looks lopsided when viewed from the front or rear. Is this the case also? If so it may only mean that the calibration of one of the senors it out or that there may be a leak in one of air suspensions units. Either of these are a relatively painless fix if the car is still under warranty.

I'm not sure where the collapsed shock you refer to in the title comes into it?

Ride height sensors are a popular item to fail... and simple to replace. If the car is under warranty still, take it along to the dealer and have them sort it out Thumbs Up
