Wood Trim MY10

I am interested in a RRS HSE and the spec of the car at the dealer is perfect except not sure about the Satin Walnut Wood on the doors and centre console. The car has Ebony interior and would have preferred the black wood option. Anyone know if this wood trim can be changed by the dealer if the car comes and I dont like it? I have asked the dealer direct and awaiting response but I need to make a decision on this car or another one.
Thanks

I'd be surprised if a dealer is willing to do that. It's not a simple job like removing mud flaps or changing alloys. When I bought a BMW X5 in the past, there was a perfect spec example but had this god awful walnut interior, the dealer said to change it would cost x amount of man hours and therefore could not justify it.

There's gonna be somebody out there who will buy it and if demand is strong like its been suggested, it will sell in the condtion its in pretty quickly.

Might be wrong though Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

best bet is to try to find the right car (with Anigre wood) but perhaps compromise on paying a bit more for a factory option that you were perhaps not too fussed about. This way you get the wood you want and the option you paid for will hopefully add value at the point of resale.

The other option is to get the American Walnut re-veneered which we have had done before (piano black) for £1600 fitted, however you would be without the car for a week (unless done before collection).

To be fair, American Walnut is the default wood for the vehicle, therefore there is probable 7 or 8 Walnut cars to every Anigre car.

I hope this helps?

Thanks for the replies.
I am possibly being too hard on the walnut trim? Havent seen it with Ebony only Ivory and wasn't keen. Dealer thinks the black flecks in the wood actually tie in well with the Ebony leather. The rest of the car in my opinion is spot on TDV6 HSE Stornoway Ebony Premium Leather Cameras Diamond Cut Alloys Privacy Glass High Beam Assist Adaptive Cruise and Side Steps. I understand the Camera option is difficult to obtain?

I had ordered my 57 TDV8 with the straight grain walnut as per Tim's but it was delivered with the leather trim on the doors, it took a couple of weeks for the dealer to get it sorted out but I did get the parts I had originally ordered. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

You won't need to worry about getting any splinters from it either................................. more like a cut if you run finger along the edge, it isn't a brilliant reproduction of timber IMHO and it sure isn't "real" and on my driver's door it is wearing away! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim,

Notice you've got a road map in there Tim. Satnav not good enough Question Shocked

I've just bought myself one of those Satmap gps devices with a custom OS 1:25k to 1:50k map for my favourite hill walking spots. Got it at a good price in a sale. Thumbs Up
Will still carry map and compass as a fail safe. But this device has a 3 1/2 inch screen and with an ordance survey map that I can plan routes on I think it's very good. Popular with the mountain rescue teams.

Will be brill when I can't see where I am or how to get off the hill because of bad weather. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Don't have Satnav in my Defender so still keep the old paper maps Josh. I have just bought the latest MemoryMap disks and a B/T GPS receiver that can stick on the window and talk with MemMap on my sub-notebook computer in a cradle on the dash - that job is for next leave. Also it is surprising how many changes there are on the SatNav disks that get updated in a paper map but not in the disks - a lot of very long established roads round here are not on LR satnav disks but are on OS and the road atlases............................ 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The wood trim on th 2010MY covers more of the dash than in the photos of Tim's TDV8. It frames the all new centre console. See interior pic in article below...

I do like my wood, always the darker variety, but for me who is quite particular, the walnut looks just fine with an Ebony interior. 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

Thanks you must be very excited. Hope mine comes next week .Its built but sitting in a compound at LR !! The demo car at the dealer has the black wood with Ebony which is very nice but I had no option other than the car I am buying as I wanted a certain spec which included surround cameras . I could not spec a car until 2010 post VAT increase hence trying to find one thats built with the spec I wanted.
