A Land Rover Disovery only does 13.5 miles per gallon in the town, whereas a Toyota Prius (a five door family car) can do over 50 miles per gallon. This means that the Land Rover emits almost four times as much carbon dioxide as the Toyota Prius.
as do most other cars! You look a dick in a Prius. A LR should last longer than a Prius. Are Prius's built in the UK - cost of transport etc. I could go on. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

"When is it acceptable to drive a Land Rover or SUV?

There are some instances when SUV's (or at least 4x4s) are probably indispensable. Many farmers need them for example. Greenpeace does not have a problem with 4x4's being used when there is a real need - but in most cases that means for heavy towing work and off road. You don't need an SUV because you've got 4 kids, because you have to take your garden waste to the tip, or because your partner is not a very good driver - all reasons often given for owning an SUV. "

Thanks for ur permission greenpeace!
Stuff like this makes me wanna go out and get another 'gas guzzling' SUV.. like my RS4 will be any better on the ol'juice.

Now, if LR were an American company they'd be sending out the boys with the sharp suits and the briefcases by now... I've had enough of this gas-guzzler bullsh*t, really I have.

At the bottom of the page they have a section where you can send a ltter to Blair and Ford to protest against LR's. The good thing is that these letters can be edited, which I have done and then emailed. That should confuse a few people. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I think we should start a new organisation called.. "coalition against tree huggers!" and go round beating these people to a pulp until they learn to mind their own business and find a forum like this to occupy their obviously large chunk of free time..

Did you know the average treehugger releases more polution after eating lentils than a RRS does when travelling for 10,000 miles! Honest 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I like the double-whammy of using the RRS to travel 5 mins up the road to get me Indian takeaway. Pollution from my very own exhaust pipe too! Thumbs Up

Should try living in my household mate.. if its not curry at home, its curry from one of the numerous client's restaurants on the way home when my mum can't be arsed to knock anything together.. Fortunately we don't have to share bathrooms, and the emmissions from your own pipe never do smell that bad do they!?

I suppose that GP probably don't employ too many car fans... so to them LR are synonymous with off-roaders or SUVs or 4x4s or whatever you want to call them. Very good point re Airbus. I expect they'd be looking for one down the local NCP Wink
