Panasonic Plasma G or V Series - best you can buy at the moment imho.

Tim - for HD you have a few options

1) Sky HD - best range of channels, however hit and miss with the cheapy box. Also Standard Definition on Sky has always been and will always be poor

2) FreeSat HD (Humax box is very very good - knocks socks of Sky HD box imho) - problem here is investment, hence lack of channels

3) HD over RF - the Future of HD distribution - watch this space Thumbs Up

Why TV technology, you just have to buy the best you can get at the moment. Personally I would go Pana Plasma with Pana HD Bluray Recorder.

I have been looking at the new Samsung side projected LED TV's, series 7 i believe which is about to get superceeded by the Series 8 (200hz). The local outlet put it next to the Sony 1080 HD LCD and played a blue ray film on both, the Samsung was distinctly better.. by far the best i have seen in years in picture quality, a bit more expensive, but give it 6 months the prices will come down.

My brother just got one of those ultra slim LCD tv, iirc it's a samsung

Picture quality is greatly improved over the Sony he used to have, can't put them side by side but I think it's very close to my Panasonic Viera plasma

Zilch - make sure you watch a Standard Definition signal on the Samsung before buying - Sammy are generally poor for SD signals imo
