Forcing front nav screen to remain in PAL

Hi guys, great site you have here!

2009 Sport TDV8 HST with OE digital tv fitted, can anyone advise how to force the front screen into staying in PAL rather than always being NTSC.

I have a hack that gives access to the diagnostic menus, and can manually change the setting from PAL to NTSC and vice versa, but when you come out of the menu it resorts back to NTSC.

On another note, clicking on the External input sync button lets the unit sync with the external source, but it reverts to internal input sync after approximately 1 second Big Cry lol.

Any help gratefully received Laughing

Welcome along mate, what is it you're trying to achieve by forcing the PAL output? If we know that, some of us might be able to form a better answer for you Thumbs Up

Hi Schmoogle, cheers for the welcome.

I have a ROSEN rear entertainment system fitted (not OE), which features a 7" TFT screen on side with built in DVD on each screen. The ROSEN kit gives a video output which we've fed into the front screen (by cutting into the original TV tuner wiring).

The front screen is capable of processing both PAL and NTSC signals, and we can access the hidden menu that allows us to view the set up of the on board screen options (rear camera, TV, etc), and within this menu you can change from PAL to NTSC and external sync/internal sync.

What we need to do is force the front unit to accept a PAL external signal. The default is NTSC. We can adjust the setting, but whenever you come out of the hidden menu it reverts back to NTSC (as I'm sure you know PAL and NTSC standards do not match, and so you end with a fuzzy/noisy picture - not ideal in such a prestige vehicle) Shocked

Any advice gratefully received Bow down

It might be worth joining one of the sister sites, disco3and posting the question in the technical section for the attention of Wiggs & BBS, both of whom have good experience in the LR electronic systems common to both cars. Questions about 22" wheels, body kits and boobies are best left here.

On cars fitted with RSES there is a way to permanently toggle between PAL and NTSC via the touchscreen, no need to enter diagnostics. You can select the color system through a submenu of the DVD menu. Unfortunately I don't know what the interface looks like on cars fitted with a TV tuner, since we don't get that option in North America.
