Driving my rangey on 275/40 R20 contis until i hit the center divider on the road thank god no damage to the car except a dent on the wheel inside, they fixed it, the tyre was completely ok just the pressure burst.

Now everything back on track but the tyre pressure sensor keeps lighting up on the dash. they put 38 in the front and 42 in the rear.

could there be a problem? help!

Pressures seem high. It should be 33 in the front and 36 in the rear. Pressures rise due to heat in hotter countries aswell. If you want to run the higher pressure youll probably have to reset the tyer pressure indicator (see manual or wait for someone with the option to tell you how ). I dont like the sound of the repair. When a wheel dents/cracks it should be replaced. Especially on such a heavy car. WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph

i agree, they put it on the go round thing in the tyre shop and it looked fine, i dont now will prob change it,

33 and 36? i need to know what the sensor in the car is programmed to.. it says on the door 38 and 42 cuz the car came with 19s, i changed to OEM 20s
how do we reset? many thx!

Sounds like they were rebalancing it rather than repairing it if the shop spun it at high RPMs. The hammering would be applying the balance weights the INCORRECT way - they should be stuck onto alloys to avoid damage to the clear coat lacquer that stops the wheel oxidising/ corroding.

There are instructions in the owners manual for recalibrating the TPMS. I wonder if they have damaged one of the sensors and that is why you have an alarm. Did they take the tyre off the rim when they did the job? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Maybe the tyre pressure sensor is danaged? Malaysia Boleh!

Yea, definately wouldnt want to be driving around with a rim that was hammered back into shape. The alloy will be weakened where it was bent initially and now if you hit anything it more likely to totally give. You can pick up cheapish replacements on ebay,

OEM pressures for 20's is 33/36. Like i said though. Read the manual and it will tell you how to reset the tyre pressure system. Its probably something like hold down the button for 10 seconds.
