NAV Disabled options

Hi Guys,

Newbe here so be gentle Whistle

I've had a search but not found the answer so excuse me if this has been discussed before.

Just picked up my 2006 TDV6 HSE last weekend, and love it.

But the navigation options are nearly always disabled, when I do to enter destination, POI, Address, Postcode etc greyed out. Works sometime but intermittently. It's like it's failing to read the data form the disk, but what do I know ! Confused

It's a real pain as everytime I actually want to use the thng I can't get it to work !

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance !

Welcome to the forum Moc.

Have you got the right country (UK) selected in the initial settings? If your system is set to any other European country then it will only search in that county.

In On road Navigation select Destination Entry, enter, on lthe left side of the screen should be a map of Europe (or the disk coverage area) showing all the borders/countries, the country the Satnav is set to is highlighted. To change it touch "Change" and make your selection.

If you suspect the disk is knackered you can buy new ones but they are expensive. Obtain them from The Land Rover Gear Shop (it's also on-line), your dealer, Navteq who make the mapping system or often they are avialable on e-bay 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks Tim,

It actually also disables the Stored Locations, TMC, Nav Set up etc as well. Question Question

Anyway just cleaned the disk and it's working for the moment.

Not got much faith in it though, has anyone else experienced something like this ?

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver

when you say nearly disabled would it happen to be only when you are moving?

they have a SAFETY function that doesnt allow you to play with the sat nav unless you are stopped, this is bloody annoying and i can see why they got rid of it on newer Range's

just a thought

Tommy

Good point Tclynes, LR did a mod after the secret hack code got out, I think for 2007MY so it will apply to all cars built after Sept2006. I'm sure if you look back in archives using the Search function - Nav on the Move, you will find the hack code for it. The "fix" for Moc in this case is to check what dealer upgrades were made to the car while it was still in warranty and if it was taken to a franchised dealer for servicing. Any UK dealer can retreive the service and car history from the LR database, with the VIN number 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The latest Satnav DVD will be suffice - when you insert it for the first time it will do the necessary system software upgrade and bring you up to the latest version Thumbs Up

OK so got a later DVD off fleebay, 2007 / 2008, loaded it fine and it upgraded the firmwear.

Expected to have the problem resolved but no still there. Oh well I've still got 1791 if I need it, bit NO Big Cry 1971 doesn't work anymore.

Is it another code for this new firmwear or is it only the 2009/2010 disks that will fix this once an for all?
