Motor Expo 2009

The new 2010 Range Rover, new 2010 Range Rover Sport and new Discovery 4 will have their UK public debut at the 2009 Motorexpo, which starts today and runs until Sunday, June 14 in Canary Wharf.

The significant improvements to these vehicles include: two new refined and powerful engines, delivering improved fuel economy and CO2 emissions, striking exterior design changes, and completely redesigned interiors bringing new levels of refinement, technology and craftsmanship.

Prices for the 2010 Range Rover – on sale from mid July – have been announced today and reflect an increase in the level of specification (including some major technological enhancements) and an improvement in performance – which all add greater customer value.

Prices for the New 2010 Range Rover Sport and New Discovery 4 – on sale from September 1 – will be subject to a further announcement.

Also on show at the 2009 London Motorexpo is the Land Rover Freelander 2 TD4_e, Land Rover's most fuel-efficient vehicle to date and the world's first SUV featuring intelligent stop/start technology. Visitors to the Land Rover stand will be offered the opportunity to test drive one on a designated on-road route.

For more information on any of the Land Rover range please visit the Land Rover stand. To book a test drive or to locate your local Land Rover dealership please log onto www.landrover.co.uk

"Designated on-road route" Wink

I wonder why it is dealers don't like customers test driving their cars where the customer wants to take them? Are these test drives from MotorExpo, James, do you know? Or are they tba at a future date from "your local dealer"? Very Happy

Steady on S, generalising a bit there...... 'dealers'!! I think the plan is that rather than customers driving around the car park, I believe (and please don't hold me to this) that they have set up a route around the surrounding roads so that customers can experience the stop/start technology.

Most dealers will be flexible as regards customers taking a vehicle on a route that they have chosen, however from experience there are a few reasons why dealers will have a set route. These are so that the dealership management can pick a route that gives the customer the best variety of driving conditions, so that they know where there car is likely to be should there be a problem and also how long the car is likely to be off site for in case another customer is waiting for a demonstration.

At another dealership we had a tip-off from someone that believed the vehicle on demo was being taken unlawfuly, and were obviously concerned for your Sales Specialists safety. Fortunately we were able to drive the route in the opposite direction, locate the car mid-route and avoid the potential theft and danger to the Sales guy.

James Thumbs Up

Lemm, that really good feedback, I've not yet seen the vehicles myself but have got a couple of days at Gaydon booked next month for the dealer launch.

We'd love to take your VO 1st Edition in as we're always being asked for them in London...... hopefully it's got sensible miles and is a nice car. Just swing by and let us have a look and we'll give you a rough idea. September is so far off that we wouldn't be able to give an exact figure until July to see what the guides do.

I'm off site from tonight until next Wednesday, however any of the guys can look after you. Just make sure you let them know that you're Lemm from the rrsport forum.

James Thumbs Up

Plenty of chance to stop & start in around Canary Wharf Wink So are the test drives only in the "green" FL2 or might we get to have a spin in an MY10 RRS or FFRR?

That's a fair point - but I must admit, when test driving I like to take cars to places where I don't need to ask where I'm going and if your dealer isn't local and they insist on following a local route I tend to spend more time having to pay attention to what the sales guy is going on about and providing directions rather than the car itself Thumbs Up

I had a Stop Start FL2 the time before last when my car was at my dealers

Found the system to be too slow on starting, out of gear foot off clutch the engine switches off

Saw my spot in the road in the flow a traffic, quickly did a clutch down-1st gear-clutch up and NOTHING Shocked

I beat the system so the car didn't start, more worring it was the fact it rolled forward as the road I was on had a slight hill onto the main road into the flow of traffic (well the front end did) whilst i was trying to work out what had happen for that split second.

In my opinion it need a auto handbrake to prevent roll backs or roll forwards Wink

Its a bit strange having a engine that turns it self off, but you can turn it off if you don't like it Smile
