Had a look at the pics in the other thread and even though the interior looks very nice I don't think that the car's front is an improvement. On the contrary it looks rather bland and sort of cheapish compared to the current model Twisted Evil Twisted Evil. It did look a bit better in the official press pictures released by LR a while ago but car photography is an art form and LR know how to do it.

My trusted old 06 TDV6 is up for a replacement in another six months or so and my original plan always was to get me the new 3.0 litres diesel but the problem is that some of the new options like the new DR are not even available for the 6 cylinder, only for the (dated) TDV8 and petrol V8 Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Does anybody know about a new improved TDV8 engine coming along in another year or so? That would definitely be the route to go then, and I would be more than happy to wait that long. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

Why do you say the TDV8 is dated - in what way? Confused

I agree that the front of the new one doesn't look as good as the current model. I don't think final specs have been decided yet, so it's too early to speculate on DR etc. Also, don't cinfuse DR with the new Dynamic mode and dynamic dampers etc.

I just meant that should LR manage to improve the current TDV8 as much as they did the TDV6 (hp, torque and fuel economy), such new TDV8 would be a very very serious machine. It would leave all current and future beemer and Audi diesels in it's wake.

The specs are already out, at least here in Switzerland that is, and among other TDV6 no-goes, there's no new DR for the 6 cylinder. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

Hoppy, motor expo is on for a week and all the cars are dotted around Canary Wharf, lets face it if it was held up north the show would only be on for a day.

Because the 1st night all the cars would have been nicked. Embarassed Laughing Very Happy

Misery, what did you think of the 5 Series Gran Turismo???? seems stuck between an X5 and 5 Series... might be good to cart the older members of you family about (good size entrance/exit to the back seats, plus fairly low to the ground), but other than that, i struggle to see the point RRS First Edition S/C, Vesuvius Orange, Rear Entertainment, Alpine TUE-T200DV, Stormer Alloys. Another entry in BMW's internal "What Niche Can We Make Up This Week?" competition.... looks good I think, if a little bit like a Mondeo.
