Potential newbie, hopefully not asking stoooopid questions..

Good day all!

You can blame Kaine for me being here..... Thumbs Up

Having owned our Touareg (3.0V6TDi) for the last 4 1/2 years (from new) we are looking at what to have next....this vehicle will be run day to day by my wife, who spends most of her time on short journeys in & around town. We will then also use it when travelling as a family on hols etc..

So, I'm thinking that the TDV6 is sufficient and will give benefit of lower running costs....but I keep reading how good the TDV8 is... Laughing For reference the Touareg averages 23 mpg ish round town, so any improvement will be a bonus!

So, what do people reckon?

Secondly, should we push for a good deal on a current model now, or wait until September......I know that is a bit impossible to answer but thought I'd see what debate it might inspire... Wink

Thanks for any input Bow down

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Chrisbin, I drive TDV8 on daily basis but also have a TDV6 which I drive from time to time when back home. It is true that the TDV8 is a completely different car but the problem it has so much power that you feel sorry to drive it on those low revs....
If it was my call I would wait and order the new 3.0 TDV6 MY10 Thumbs Up
It is only few more month to go Whistle

I would wait for the 3.0 RRS if i was in your situation its looking to be much nicer with the new designed dash etc and economy.

I have had enough of my FL2 i have now, due to all the little warranty faults its had, problem is i want the extra space a D3 (7 seats) could give me due to the growing family. but don't want to buy an old style D3. when the new style D4 is coming, (but the XS spec is priced out of my car bracket at launch). So I am undecided on what to do too wait till ex demos come out and fight every man and his dog for one or look elsewhere VW, Audi, Volvo etc

had the car for 2 1/2 years or thereabouts, to name a few problems

PDC faulty every time it rains (front or rear depending how it feels), banging front end going over speed bumps, wearing seatbelt on B pillar, boot that unlocks itself spewing contents over the road, misfiring once in the rain, Leaking rear boor from brake light, Sat nav frozen, Radio that doesn't load telephone, then does 10 minutes later, wheel bearing, handbrake that won't hold car, noise from aircon, cooling fan that on for ages after switching off, and now a fault on the car where the engine temp bounces up and down and then goes back to normal, driver seat movement, a whoosh noise when reversing up my driveway when i dip the clutch as well as the odd recall for heater, sunroof securing, drainage etc

Most of which the dealer has either done his best to resolve or has not been able to find. I was speaking with my sale chap and he was saying my car has been in more than all the FL2 that they have sold put together Shocked

All my mate ask me what car i am in when i phone them nowadays, but main thing is my boss (whose my dad) thinks its beyond a joke now, shying away from another FL2 and Land Rover in general due to my problems Confused

Wrong.......the TDV8 will still be available in the updated MY10 run and beyond. It will have the new interior. But it will not have the updated ZF gear box.

Personally I have had a TDV6 and now have a TDV8. I accept the 3.0TDV6 will be better than the 2.7TDV6 but it will definately not be as good as the TDV8.

So if you intend to wait for the face lift then get the TDV8 Thumbs Up And if you are buying now then TDV8 Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

The TDV8 is SO much more of a motor.... the MY10 V6 will certainly close the gap, though. Depends on what your budget is, concern over fuel costs etc. In town the TDV8 will probably equal the 23mpg of your Toerag.
