To be on the safe side, just change your wheels and confront the dealer with the TSBs. Malaysia Boleh!

Switzerland 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Hi,

This "front suspension knocking" warranty fix, is that only for older models of the RRS, or is it also for newer ones? I got my RRS TDV8 from brand-new in December '08, and have heard some sounds front the front when turning and going over a bump at the same time.

What do you mean by warranty on older models?
Your RRS is Dec. 08, so surely its covered under warranty, no?

All TSBs will mention the VIN range covered and you can check against this. For example, this TSB covers RRS VIN-range 900290 onwards...

What I meant was; would my new RRS already have the fix, or do I need to get to the stealer to have something fixed? The answer is I need to check the VIN number.

Killerbob, Take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it. I doubt yours got the new bushes. Possibly has the new ball joints though as they came out end last year. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Ok my good people....with Bobby's TSB's and various posted threads, I'm hitting the $tealer tomorrow with my faults. YES faults, not one but THREE now.

When I'm about to engage into reverse, I get this almighty shunt.....can't explain it.

Second fault, I get this weird steering feedback. On very small movements instead of smooth turning from 11'o clock to 1 the wheel feels 'rough'. It just started today and it's annoying the pants out of my driving pleasure.

And lastly, the knocking sound. I HATE IT!!!!!!

Rant over. sorry folks

This is going to sound really stupid....but I'm actually slightly anxious of the whole customer vs dealer shout out. Being on here hasn't entirely helped........its from all the horror stories I've heard so far of dealers refusing to carry out jobs.

Tiko, in the worst case scenario just try another dealer and raise a complaint about the one that refused to carry out the work Twisted Evil

***UPDATE***

Right folks....

(18/4/09)Turned up at dealership and told them to check the knocking sound and slightly grindy steering wheel. Told them I suspect ball joints and bushes need replacing. They gladly accepted the challenge and insisted their "master" technician will be servicing and look for the faults.

(20/4/09) Get a call at 4pm today to say that yes knocking sound is present but only thing fixed will be front anti roll bar bushes. They found no fault with the steering though!!!

So, I headed to the dealership with the knowledge of Bobby's (TSB's) as I forgot them on the console table. So, have now rebooked for Wednesday and this time will be armed with the appropriate paperwork!!!

Tiko,

Remember to tell them to check the body frame shock absorbers too, especially if your vehicle has Dynamic Response.

Good luck!! Thumbs Up Malaysia Boleh!

******UPDATE******

(29/4/09) Got the darn thing back yesterday.....basically told that the only fix to mine would the ARB's. I insisted that there were new designed ball joints that were introduced to combat the knocking but told they were unaware of the sort!!! This is still with me handing them the appropriate TSB.... Anyhow thought the noise had dampened somewhat but once again noticed on a bit of a rough road the same noise today. Sad Sad Sad Sad

So, phoned them up and it's going back in for more testing Sad Confused . One result is that they will be fixing the squeaking steering wheel as well Smile

Better luck next week Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

My BM ownership....M3 never seen a spanner for warranty work, nor has the 7'er or 1'er for that matter. This thing has been in three times in only 1 months of ownership.

P.S I still love my RRS, even with its faults Very Happy Very Happy Currently

***UPDATE***

(9/5/09) Finally picked her up after an agonising 3 day wait, which was only meant to be the one. WELL, they fixed the steering wheel squeak but to my dismay they refused to install new ball joints as they weren't worn. I explained that "new" design ball joints were introduced to alleviate the knocking sound but still a big fat NO!!!!

I'm at the end of my tether as the knocking is so apparent that now I just simply turn up the sound to drown the irritative noise!

Please help, am I being unreasonable on insisting new ball joints? Has anyone in Scotland experienced similar and had no issues with their dealer. I might use them instead possibly.

TIA

TikoV, Lloyd LR in Carlisle have been very helpful, understanding and communicative with me on this issue. Having said that, the problem keeps returning after their work, so I am pretty much resigned to this being a recurring / unfixable issue. Does take a bit of the pleasure out of driving the car - but there is still a lot to be very happy about. RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
