United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Defender SVX 90

Hi,
I currently own a RRS and a Disco 3, during a recent visit to our local dealer spotted a SVX 90 hard top on the display, anyway to cut to the chase I am now the happy owner of a 90 SVX to add to my Land rover collection..

Does anyone know if these is a forum for the owners of Defenders similar to this one for RRS / DISCO 3.

Thanks

Bloody good choice. Thumbs Up Hard top all the way, they only built 60 of those but 140 odd soft tops, and i hear they are having lots of problems with the soft top roofs.

What number did you get?? any pictures.

I doubt the hard top will be any more rainproof than the soft top or any other Defender Mis! I think Land Rover call it a "characteristic of the marque". One of the local dealers has had an SVX soft top on the showroom since last August and it's still there with a £32000 sticker price, they sold their Hard Top yonks ago 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi,
We are hoping to get some photographs this weekend of our new toy, The 90 SVX is number 194 and is only one of 60 hard tops, Yeovil Landrover were the supplying dealer, excellent service as always and well recommended.

Just wish the SVX was an automatic, we always had a place in our hearts for the NAS 90 just at the time a little outside our price bracket due to being students. Now were the Landrover family, between the SVX 90, RRS and Disco 3.

Kind of nice to swap around, the one interesting thing is that people seem to wave to you in a 90 where as in the RRS or the disco just does not have the same effect.

At the weekend we parked the SVX in town and when we returned about an hour later, noticed about 3 landie enthusiasts having a good look around her... we had a nice chat...

To be honest if we had not bought the SVX we would have looked for a G4 RRS or Disco 3 for weekends and fun...

Terry and Emma,
you made an excellent choice there. I went to pick up mine 90 SVX hardtop about a week ago in Sweden.
To the continental europe even less cars have been delivered (D-140; SK-0; A-25 etc.) and so it was difficult to get hold of one.
Driving it for couple of days now must admit that I fancy it more than the RRS. And it is head turner as well. Whistle

@Tim, I was also worried that it might rain in, but surprisingly it does not. Wind is a different story.
But it is still a defender so it is part of the deal Rolling with laughter

I think the SVX looks great Thumbs Up

Has there ever been auto Defenders?

Only thing I struggled with a HOTL in the Defender was the seat not going back far enough to accomodate my 6'2" frame Confused Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I want one!

When I was a dirty tax dodging student one of my friends had a really old Landie with a canvas back and SWB. No idea what model it was but it was great fun. WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

Yes the last auto Defenders were the 50th Anniversary V8's in 1998 but if you have deep pockets Ashcroft will convert any Defender to an auto and IIRC JE Engineering will as well. Japseroony posted about it recently and put up a link to a youtube video. It's only a TDv8 motor, Disco2 diffs and TDv8 gearbox on a 100" chassis at the moment I believe. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

An auto SVX now that would be good, but on the other hand I am not sure about this as it might be out of character with the vehicle. Range Rover Sport HSE TDV6 - 08 Plate

Maybe the farming/utility companies/armed forces and rescue services who normally buy lots of Defenders don't want autos so LR has decreed that there is no demand for them. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
