The current and previous E-class models have done much to destroy Mercedes' reputation for quality, so get this: for the new model they built 700 prototypes and racked up 18 million test miles!!

I believe it.... Merc are very much trying to recover from the reputation they had grown over the past few years for lack of quality. To be fair, the new run of Cs and Es certainly seem to have better reports. I suppose the next few years JDPower surveys will tell.

The new ones are indeed getting back to where they used to be.

I moved to LR after 15 years if Mercs. Merc's quality is miles better than LR - no question. They just don't make anything approaching as sexy as my RRS - I'll put up with the niggles for the looks. I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.
