And it was all going so well....

Up to now I have been the relatively silent majority that have been happy with their RRS and not had a real problem.

Until this last week......

Engine management light is on, no power on acceleration and occasionally giving the "Gearbox Malfunction/HDC failure/Parking Brake Failure" messages

Finally managed to book it into the dealer (LRA would not recover it as it still drove - just take it to a dealer they said)

Dealer has diagnosed an EGR valve failure, parts are on back order for at least a week.

Just awaiting the LRA courtesy car to arrive...... 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit

How long have you got............. Big Cry Big Cry

Fuel tank baffles have gone - 4 years old........hardly premium engineering is it Big Cry Big Cry - £1200 to fix
ABC Sport suspension struts - been told by Merc that they are end of life and there is play in them - again, hardly great engineering. - £3k to fix

The sad thing is, these are common faults according to our friends on other Benz like forums.........£100k for a car that is falling apart at the seams.........and yes, it does have FMBSH, not that its worth sh*t.

Double shameless Evil or Very Mad

I am getting it checked by Merc specialist on Weds next as it could of course be "work creation" for those hard up Merc dealers. God help em if it is Twisted Evil L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

One thing about Merc and other decent car makers is that if there is a design fault or something goes wrong, they NEVER fob you off with "it's a charcteristic of the car" - in all my years of owning different makes, only LR have done that when they are unable to fix the Censored Dynamic Response related knocking.

Red, breaking down really isn't that common............................ I've gone 9 years out of 15 of LR ownership without a breakdown. I had to call out LRA once for my last RRS because it kept going into reduced power/limp home mode on a late night trip and they came to my house the next morning and checked the car out, but could find nothing wrong, downloaded the errorlog to the local dealer and the day after that I drove into the dealers who had already been able to get the fault log decoded and had a fix ready and waiting. I admit there are some who seem to get some pretty serious problems and I am very sorry for them. I have owned what were supposed to be some of the most unreliable Landies - Disco1 V8, Disco TD5 Auto and a Td4 Freelander1 and apart from the TD5 shedding an auxy drive belt (which entailed a 6 mile tow into the dealership where I was going to collect a new car anyway!) I have not had a major problem in 15 years of owning them. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Well guys, I will probably be tempting fate here, but....

...the only issue we've had in close to 3 years is a faulty fuel filler cap. Repaired by the dealer in less than 30mins under warranty.

Tim,

I have had my RRS break down and recovered to the dealers 3 times in 3 months, on an 08 plate car that does give me some cause for concern. That aside the RRS is a fine car Thumbs Up
