To my mind the rear interior lighting in the RRS is nothing short of pathetic

So true, I was bitching about it in the "parents" thread below. If you have a baby on the back seat that needs immediate attention from you or your front passenger at night, the lack of available illumination over the rear seats can be downright dangerous, let alone annoying... Speaking from experience here. I don't know what LR was thinking. |

Thank you very much Rupert!!! This link is exactly what I am looking for! Looks like a case of beer and some pizza for my weekend project! I was thinking of adding a dome light between the seats but I'm gonna tackle this project first and keep you guys posted. My wife is gonna love this one! |

In the UK there is a discount DIY chain called B&Q and they sell some very nice little 3LED, battery powered lights made by Osram. I took a load of them to my ship for use in the wheelhouse at night where we also had a problem with lack of decent lighting for writing vital data at night. They cost about £5 a piece, often for less, I paid £3 a pop last year.

What a coincidence Tim! Same solution I have in the rear cargo area and in the cubby box. Nice to see that they also have waterproof ones...one can never have too many flashlights around!

I've just been in the local halfords auto parts store and they have strips of micro sized LEDs with a press switch that you can stick on the dash to operate them - they even do LEDs with strobe effect blue lights which would be a bit of fun on a fast road with a fair bit of speeding traffic - hide a couple behind the front grille and go out looking like an unmarked police car and just flash them at anybody who dares to overtake at a speed in excess of the speed limit

Great tip Tim...I just reviewed all the models on that website you posted earlier...the directional ones are really a great idea...perhaps a better solution as you say for the passenger area. Are the blue strobe lights also made by Osram? PJPR Cairns Blue HSE 180k Miles of Adventure |

How true it is...when Hurricane Ike hit here in Houston and we had no electricity for 9 days straight, all of the torches/flashlights came out. I can't believe there is a flashlight forum as well...oh boy! My favorite of the bunch - in the front of the RRS:

Actually...never. These are the authentic Mag lite clips designed to hold the 3D Mag...so it clips in nice and tight, doesn't rattle or come loose. PJPR

...and I take it the clips are just attached to the seat base with screws?
