That's correct...there are 2 screws on each bracket, so the clips are very tightly attached to the plastic cover, and the maglite snaps into place. Once installed, they've never come loose at all. Best to just drill or score a very small pilot hole to get the tip of the screw started, and then in they go...nice and tight.

Here's a sideview...you can see 1 of the 2 screws on each bracket...

I've my Mag in the same place Thumbs Up

Just be careful with the screws, as there’s a wiring loom right behind where they go through Shocked

What I did was pop off the trim under seat drilled the holes, then used a nut & bolt to secure the brackets rather than screws. Then ground off any protruding thread until smooth. Then as a real belt & braces job, put on some self adhesive foam, to protect the wiring from any chafing.

Oh yes Flashlight Forums Thumbs Up Cool

You can never have enough of flashlights there are just so many different types, for varying applications.

As well as in various toolboxes & out in the workshop, I have torches stashed all over the house, there’s an AA maglite in the top drawer of each or our nightstands, one for me & one for “Mrs Rupert”.

I have one in a drawer in the bathroom, a couple in the Kitchen & one or two others around the house. You never know where you’ll be when the power goes out. All my Mags are upgraded with LED’s which really transforms the torch.

Then for heavyweight / high output use, I have a pair of Nightsearcher Panther HD’s fully charged in the downstairs cloakroom.

For mobile applications, in the RRS as well as the D Cell mag clipped under the drivers seat I have a Surefire 6P in the centre cubby box.

Our other vehicles are similarly equipped too.

Then in my laptop bag I have a Streamlight Stylus Pro, which is a nice compact torch, giving excellent output.

When travelling I always bring a couple or pocket sized torches with me to leave beside the bed in a hotel, usually two Surefire 6P’s. This in case the hotel has to be evacuated during the night & the power is off.

When travelling on a night flight, I’ll have a Stylus Pro ready to hand. If only to assist in finding things in a dark cabin, but also handy in the case of emergency.

Really you should never be without a torch close to hand.

Amazing...this is like a parallel universe! You are truly a connoisseur of flashlights.

On several occasions I've been in hotels that had long blackouts - in Bogota and in Sao Paolo, and the portable slim Maglite I carry always in my laptop bag (on the airplane as well) was perfect to get around. In addition to the 3D one I bring with me in my check in luggage...not allowed anymore in the carry-on bag.

So...let me count...OK, 6 3D Maglites, one in the bedroom, one in the kitchen, 2 in the RRS, 1 each in the other cars, 3 slim Maglites, along with a couple of these Black Diamond Apollo Lanterns, a Black Diamond headlamp, a camping torch (one electric, one gas). Oh my...I'm a Flashlight addict! I should mention as well that all the Mags have also been upgraded to LED's...what a difference that makes.

The Surefire is an excellent item!

You might find a humorous read in Overland Journal - an article, called Mr. Flashlight in one of the recent editions!

Cheers! PJPR

Finally someone, who thinks as I do Thumbs Up

Normally when I start a discussion about flashlights & they’re varying uses, people just think I’m nuts.

I hear you - maybe everyone will think both of us are nuts, but we know better! Very Happy

My wife always thought I was crazy about this - but when the hurricane hit and we had her elderly parents with us...everyone was quite happy to have their own! PJPR

Have a read of This thread on another forum I frequent.

These guys take it to an altogether different level, even down to modifying the switches on their torches, to two stage. So they can have momentary or constant light or to offer two light intensities.

One word of warning though, is that the thread started back in 2004 & as a result is quite long. But nonetheless very informative & quite entertaining at times too.

If you want to jump to the last & most recent page, which has posts as recent as today Click here.

Otherwise brew some coffee & start at the beginning. Very Happy

Very Happy Very Happy

Well...that does look like some entertaining reading for the evening. I may just have to turn the lights out and use one of my flashlights to read by!

Of course the fascination with lights doesn't only stop with flashlights...I've changed all my interior RRS lights to blue LED's on the dome, rear cargo area, door kick panels, and for the footwells, bright white LEDS. Also changed the rear backup lights and the front parking lights to bright white LED's, along with the fog lights.

It's a slippery slope once you get modifying - but lots of fun! PJPR

You see, I’ve resisted taking it to modifying the vehicle lights. I just wouldn’t know where it could lead.

In fact it scares me to think about it Laughing

I replaced all the running lights except the headlights and driving lights on my Defender two years ago. I also replaced the dash lights with cool green LEDS, but they have a mind of their own and come and switch of when they want to, usually choosing to be off at night when they are most needed! My front sidelights are now as bright as my headlights and the first time I went out with another group of Defenders I was convinced that my rear fog light was on even though the switch was off......................... nope said the following driver, you have the brightest
rear lights I have ever seen was his reply and it isn't your rear fog light! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

A bit OT, but since we are talking about hanging things from the seats... I installed another bracket - a bit lower on the panel so as not to interfere with one's legs - for an automotive fire extinguisher on the other side (the passenger seat here in the US), for when I go off road, I can reach and unhook the extinguisher off its bracket with one hand from the driver's seat - nice to have it there just in case... No rattles.
