How bad is the ride affected from 19'' to 20'' ?

Driving a petrol HSE 4.4L V8
its got the standard ugly 19s (wish they were the Y-spokes)
thinking of the S/C or 20'' stormers but really worried about the quality of the ride, its already not that great on the 19''s, for you who have had both does it get really bumpy? is it bearable?

THANKS!

I'd have to agree with Angel Thumbs Up

Very little, if any difference between the 19's & 20's.

I run both & actually think that the 20's were a little smoother, which doesn't make much sense I know. But I recently put the 19's back on for the winter & thought the ride got a little harsher Confused

Like Angel I drive 20" in summer and 19" winter, but there is a diffrence in ride quality from the 255/55 19"MT/R and the 20" contis. With the 19" it is much more complient and smooooothes out the bumps, much more like the magic carpet, downsides are MORE NOISE and you can 4 wheel drift very easily Whistle
20" Contis have a firmmer ride, you can feel the road much better, grip better and cause the wife to not complain about the noise of the tyres, only about the speed of the cornering Embarassed have to switch off the DSC to get them to spin up and get the tail out Whistle
34k km on the Contis so far and they will need changed soon-ish, 3mm tread left. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Often meant post a question about living with a set of MTR’s.

Could I be so bold as to ask what sort speeds / road surfaces, we’re talking about with this four wheel drift Question

80km/h, sport mode, damp-ish motorway on ramp, with the contis I have to switch off the DSC to get the same effect Shocked
on-ramp is a 270 degree constant radius descent from a flyover to the main autoroute.
Couldnt't live with the MT/R all year, they are fine for the winter or off-roading, level of grip is no where near as good as the contis, esp when it is wet Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Mmmmm, pretty much as I thought Sad

I want to get a less road biased tyre, but would like to stick with 19" rims. But unfortunately it seems that the choice is either a road tyre, or the seriously rugged MTR. I haven’t yet found an in between tyre.

I would be careful with any replicas given the weight of an RRS. This will limit your choice, so have a look at the LR website where all the styles are shown. Average price for 4 new LR 20"alloys will be just under £1500 from one of the Dealers on here with a 15-20% discount.

Small plug....but I will have a set of 4 genuine LR 20" SC/TDV8 wheels available soon. 1 1/2 years old and no kerb damage. Being taken off my TDV8 to put replacement 20" wheels back on. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

265/50 R20

My wheel dealer is recommeding 265/50 instead of 275/40 for the stormer 20''s anyone tried this size?
hes saying they will fit the gap better and protect the wheels better
