The fuel flap on UK spec vehicles should lock with the central locking button. It sounds like you have a sticking actuator.

Inside the boot there is a flap to manually release the cap - might it be worth 'exercising' this a couple of times to see if it 'resets' - agree dealer prob unless the trip is a pain - may be worth trying first anyhow...

Messing with the cable behind the RH rear quarter trim won't make any difference in this instance. If the actuator has jammed in the open position it will need to be replaced. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

The problem is that the plastic tip at the end of the actuator cable gets chewed up a bit because it has not been aligned with the fuel flap locking clip properly.

I have to wonder then why the US models don't get this same feature...as it exists on practically every other European car here as well. PJPR Cairns Blue HSE 180k Miles of Adventure |

That's cuz it only costs about about 6 shillings to fill a tank over there. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.
