Well, it's been sometime since I was here. Been to the dealers twice since and will be going for the third time next week. It's not the EGR's apparently. Airfilters and oilfilters have been changed. Dealer could find nothing wrong with it mechanically, so sent for a program from LR, which wipes everything from the computer, so it resorts to it's original factory setting. That hasn't worked and it still coughs and splutters! Big Cry

Slovenia 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

HI Kevin . i don´t know if this will help but I know one guy over here and he had a similar problem and at the end the problem was on of the one of the Twin Turbo´s. Apparently there was one rubber tube/pipe on the Turbo which had an air leak(I don´t know now if it had a small crack or it was not connected tight). I really hope that it will help you Thumbs Up 2008 RRS TDV8 HSE, Java black, Alpaca,.....

Hi, I have wandered over from fullfat and was very interested to read this subject. I have 2008my TDV8 with a DPF filter. The updated way of cleaning it is to drive for 20 minutes keeping the revs above 2500rpm.
I have had the same problem as you SSD, but without the black smoke! Hope your dealers in East Africa are worth the effort. I've been to 5 different dealers in 3 countries and not one of them has yet been able to find out what it is! I'll mention the EGR valves when I next visit them, although I reckon my computer is the culprit!

There is a Service Action related to RR Diesel...

"A diesel particulate filter pressure sensor hose fitted to the left-hand side of the exhaust system may have been incorrectly installed during vehicle manufacture resulting in the hose being twisted. This can give an incorrect pressure reading and result in inadvertent 'limp home mode' being activated."

They just need to untwist the hose, if that's your problem!! Malaysia Boleh!

it deffinatley sounds like a gasket problem. And if you have a turbo ( i haven read everything) the gasket could easily be blown. I had this exact problem on another vehicle of mine... you could also have a main block blown gasket, its most likely one of the two.

Sorry it took so long to get back on this one. Computer was reset to factory set up after Xmas. Had 1 Engine system fault show up, while I was out cleaning the DPF. Then the next day, it spluttered while I accelerated. However, it didn't go into limp mode. Rang dealer today and they have a new program to install that is supposed to address any problems caused by the DPF. I have spoken to someone who works with Audi, VW and Mercedes. They have had a lot of trouble with DPF too and I've noticed some of you on this forum experiencing the same problems. I'm am in the process of selling my RR, and I want it to go in the best condition it can be. So hopefully, it won't be in my possesion for much longer! Smile

Car was sold last week. It was still trying to kill it's new owner! He went to the dealer and they found that a collar on one of the exhaust system pipes was not screwed on properly. I thought how great for this guy, as he won't have to suffer as I did. He phoned up later that today to say that it still does it! I've gone back to Jag for time being. Goodbye forever LR and good luck to all you guys who own them. Looks like you need it!! Thumbs Up
