United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver
Poorly 2005 2.7 HDV6 HSE

My 2005 2.7 HDV6 HSE RRS is poorly...........

Symptoms include:

• 800 – 2500 rpm – low power, very slow to move off when stationary, struggles to gain revs
• 2500 rpm+ - when it hits 2500rpm it shoots off like a startled rabbit leaving a huge cloud of black, sooty smoke it its wake!!
• Cruise control – won’t hold a steady speed once it hits an incline
• Motorway speed – hunts for gears, at a constant speed it slowly looses revs then changes down 2 gears to get back up to speed (with the accompanying billowing smoke out the exhaust.....)

Any thoughts or similar experiences would be appreciated – from my very limited knowledge I’m guessing at a turbo fault which sounds expensive???

Cheers

First thoughts are a split turbo hose. I think this would explain most of the faults mentioned, but I'm no mechanic so dn't take my word as gospel.

Hope it is nothing too serious and you manage to get it sorted soon. Thumbs Up Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Sounds like an EGR valve has gone faulty / sticking, becoming quite a common problem as they get sooted up with horrible black gunge..Take it to the dealer to see what fault codes are showing. Will probably need to replace one or both egr valves. RRS TDV8 Buck Blue (no, not now in my dreams). ..........D3 TDclankety clankV6 ............BMW 318i

I'd go with the EGR value too. My D3 had exactly the same symptoms on Thursday.

LRA put it on the computer and diagnosed the EGR valve.

Its in at the dealers being fitted at the moment...

There are a few treads on disco3.co.uk
