Off topic, slightly: So what's the difference between amateur radio and what I'd call CB radio? Which is the "breaker, breaker, what's your 1020, goodbuddy" one that you see in films that have Burt Reynolds in? 2009 Outstanding Contribution Award - Joint Runner Up 2009 'Tech-Head Of The Year' Award - Runner Up Like it here? This is why I was asking what the difference was. CB used to be a popular pastime when I was a kid. One of my brothers used to be well into it, but now it just seems to be bit of a distant memory.

Thanks guys! There is a big difference in CB and Amateur Ham Radio. In Ham radio you need a license to transmit and is regulated by the FCC. CB radio is more like a freeband for everyone and you dont need a license. In ham radios you can use repeaters and if connected through echolink (voip) you can talk around the world with it. Same thing with HF transmissions. You can go very far if the propagation is right. Normal QSO's from Los Angeles can reach to UK. South Africa, Britsh Columbia, Denmark and most of Europe. On CB radio's they get about 10 to 15 miles radius from car to car. Cheers!!! Mike |

Thank you! I actually have the rig mounted under the front passenger seat and the remote face is mounted right above the rear view mirror. It sits perfect and has no obstruction at all to the electronics. I know, the RRS has a pretty limited space and I don't want to install something that would be out of place I will post some pic for you next time. Anyway, 73 and cheers! Thanks VA. I have a previous 04 DISCO prior to my RRS and it was Zambezi silver as well. Real easy color to maintain and love that color too. Mike |
